WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking aTermTherapist II to serve in the24 Hours Crisis Centerin Behavioral Health & Crisis Services but assigned to and colocated with the Takoma Park Police Department.
This position is based in the Departments Behavioral Health and Crisis Services 24Hour Crisis Center but assigned to and colocated with the Takoma Park Police Department. The Crisis Center provides telephone walkins mobile crisis outreach single adult shelter system screening and referrals and crisis residential services to persons experiencing situational emotional or mental health crises. The Crisis Center provides all services twentyfour hours/day seven days/week. Much of the work of the Crisis Center focuses on providing the least restrictive communitybased serviceappropriate tothe clients situation. The Crisis Center coordinates the mental health response during disasters and community critical incidents and serve as the afterhours contact for Public Health Stop Triage Engage EducateRehabilitate(STEER) Adult Protective Services (APS) Abused Person Program (APP) and Child Welfare Services (CWS). The Takoma Park Police Department provides law enforcement functions within the city limits of Takoma Park MD.
The duties and responsibilities of the position will include:
Provide onsiteassistanceto the Takoma Park Police Department in responding to calls for service with individuals who may havebehavioralhealth concerns. Assess andassistin determiningappropriate dispositionsfor these individuals to include facilitating referrals toappropriate DHHS/privatepartners. Similarlyassistwith individuals who walk into the Takoma Park Police Station inbehavioralhealth crisis or with the need for other social service supports.
Provide limited clinical case management services with individuals in Takoma Park whocome into contact withthe Police Department and whorequireassistancein obtaining public/private servicesappropriate totheir level of need.
Provide trainings to officers professional staff and Takoma Park community partners on relevantbehavioralhealth topics.
Work with Crisis Center Manager MCPD Supervisory Therapist and other Crisis Center staff to ensure that the HHS/Takoma Park clinicians adhere to highest standards of care including the DHHS performanceobjectivesof collaborative care and use of technology.
Work with Takoma Park command staff and Crisis Center Supervisory Therapist and Manager to ensure that programobjectivesareidentifiedand met and thatappropriate outcomemeasures are captured.
Participate in multiple collaborations which may include meetings with Crisis Center partners including MCPD RCPD ECC FRS MCPS SEPH local hospitals etc.
Education:Graduation from an accredited college or university with aMasters Degree in clinicalor counseling psychology social work marriage and family therapy nursing or a related behavioral science field.
Experience:Two 2 years of professional experiencerenderingtherapeutic counseling social worknursingor psychology services as pertinent to ones professional licensing.
Equivalency: None.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
One of the following licenses issued by the State of Maryland must be held prior to appointment of andmaintainedby the employee:
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapy (LCMFT)
Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC
Licensed Certified Social Worker/Clinical (LCSWC)
Licensed Registered Nurse in the United States certified as Psychiatric Mental Health NursePractitioner Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Psychiatric MentalHealth Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland; or
Licensed Psychologist
Note:There will be no substitutions for this requirement.
Possession and maintenance of:
A valid Class C (or equivalent) drivers license from the applicants state of residence whenrequiredfor jobrelated duties.
We will useinterview preferencecriteria:
Experience delivering clinical services to individuals who experience behavioral health emergencies or traumatic events in a community setting
Experience working with law enforcement and/or public safety partners
Experienceinitiatingand writing Emergency Evaluation Petitions
Experience providing trainings orfacilitatingdiscussions with multidisciplinary groups
Experience with individuals experiencing challenges with housing finances employment or other obstacles to meeting concrete needs
