Job Description

The Research Technician(RT) works closely with Investigators and study staff to implement and performstudies. The RT analyzes and evaluates study data as well as documentscompiles and maintains research data regulatory binders and study databases.The RT also performs data analysis and QA/QC data checks. Moreover the RTposition may also help produce reports research abstracts posters andmanuscripts for publication.

The positionrequires high level technical and analytical skills good research and writingskills and the ability to work independently.

We are seeking afulltime Research Technician to take on several job responsibilities. We willtrain all employees especially with respect to scanning and FreeSurfer.

The major responsibilities we are looking for a RT to takeon are:

1. Highresolution experimental ex vivo scanning on 1.5T 3T 4.7T and 7T MRIscanners

Scanning will be taught but experience with MRIscanners is preferred.

Candidate must:

be willing to handle brain tissue andformaldehyde

learn many complicated technical details over ashort period of time; follow procedures carefully

be willing to work evenings and weekends toperform some of the experiments including being on call during designatedweekends to respond to technical problem

have a sound degree of computer literacy (forscanning and data processing)

knowledge of UNIX and shell scripting ispreferred (for data processing)

2. Processand quality check (then fix) in vivo MRI data using the FreeSurfersoftware package. This will include both healthy subjectdata as well as subjects with pathology.

Candidate must:

have a sound degree of computer literacy

knowledge of UNIX and shell scripting is preferred

knowledge of fMRI & diffusion analysis ispreferred

experience debugging & testing software is aplus

The candidateshould:

bea responsible individual with a flexible schedule

Bachelors Degreerequired. Masters Degree is a plus. Relevant backgrounds would beNeuroscience Psychology Bioinformatics Engineering Computer Science orBiomedical Engineering.

1 year of relatedresearch experience required.

May supervisestudent interns.
