Food Safety and Quality Internship

About the role.

The Food Safety and Quality team at McCain is seeking an intern to work at the factory/plant location in Florenceville New Brunswick CA for 12 weeks starting in May 2025. This position will be working a full time schedule (Monday through Friday).

This position will offer the opportunity to build upon the knowledge acquired in the classroom in a food business and manufacturing environment. The Quality and Food Safety internship program is designed to offer students the opportunity to learn and work with business units to provide solutions to internal and external stakeholders.

Interns will have the opportunity to impact several quality and food safety initiatives and gain exposure to a wide array of QFS programs including but not limited to HACCP & Food Safety Plans laboratory & instrumentation programs equipment performance & maintenance food manufacturing & prerequisite programs product inspection and disposition and additional project work in related areas.

As an intern you will be part of our North American Food Safety and Quality team. The Food Safety and Quality team is responsible for creating monitoring and validating systems that result in highquality and foodsafe products that meet our customers expectations. The team is also responsible for providing guidance for our food production processes. Our consumers trust and have confidence in our brand and food safety is critical in keeping that trust. Our food safety guidelines are in place to ensure our products meet our customers expectations as well as food safety regulations.


Accountabilities:

  • Supplier Management Assist Supplier team on document management in TraceGains developmentof TraceGains reports and generation of Vendor Scorecard.
  • Compliance Work with Eastern plants on verification of approved suppliers/ingredient lists and Food Safety Plan ingredient risk assessments. Support tracking and closure of AIB warehouse audit finding.
  • Engagement Support theQuality Team on World Food Safety Day planning and promotion. Represent and promote the Quality Team at National French Fry Day and McCain Family Day events.
  • Document management system learning how to transfer documents over put together use trainings/onepoint lessons etc.
  • Training program development 1 creation of training materials fit for factory environment prepare a trial launch gather feedback and modify before official launch. 2 Create a folder of various 1 pager topic of the month posters/activities/handouts that can be used across the business (easy to read/use FSQ promotional items).
  • PowerBI report/visualization development
  • Management of change Conduct trials in a new system

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters degree in Food Science Biology/Microbiology Chemistry/Biochemistry Chemical Engineering or applicable field with an interest in Quality & Food Safety as a career
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for delivering highquality work
  • Creativity and critical thinking
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • A love of quality food
  • Must be at least18 years of age

  • Food safety basics and integration of food safety throughout the supply chain
  • Factory and corporate support to ensure the best quality and foodsafe products

Compensation Package:$23.00 $26.00CAD hourly

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience skill set education/training and other organizational needs.
