Summary: The function of the Infection Control Practitioner is to plan and implement the surveillance and eduction activities of North Shore Medical Centers Infection Control Program. These activities are appropriate to the Medical Centers demographics (geographic volume of patient encounters age of populations served clinical focus and number of employees). The practitioner is a consultant and educator in infection control for all hospital departments and committees. SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: ICC is able to work with minimal direct assistance. Have the ability to communicate effectively to all departments EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5 or more years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting required. 2 years as an Infection Control/Prevention Registered Nurse in an acute care setting preferred. EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required. Masters of Science Degree in Nursing or Masters in Public Health preferred. LICENSES CERTIFICATION and/or REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Registered Nurse Licensure required with Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Certification in Infection Control: Certification is an expectation within two 2 years of hire. For incumbents hired prior to March 1 2013 certification is required by June 1 2015. Certification in Infection ControlCIC at time of hire is preferred.
