Job Description

Bulfinch Temporary Service is currently hiring a temporary LPNs to join our pool! Please note this position is temporary in nature and not benefits eligible. Provides phone and email advice to patients and their families. Knowledge of appropriate information to obtain for common medical complaints Ability to take an accurate and complete medical history Problem solving Ability to recognize emergencies and respond appropriately Ability to communicate findings concisely and accurately to physicians nurse practitioners physician assistants and RN both verbally and writing Ability to communicate back to patients medical advice including evaluating patients understanding of and ability to follow advice. Support patients and their families in self management of chronic disease Provide education counseling and coaching of patients Actively and efficiently manage the flow of patients through the office Previsit chart preparation and information gathering to optimize the visit Room patients Assist providers with medical histories including medications documenting in electronic medical record. Check vital signs Update computerize reminders Access patients document those assessments review with providers and educate patients per providers instructions Perform point of care testing and immunizations Participate in team meetings Participate in proactive population management of chronic disease by generating emails and letters and calling patients Participate in the education of students and residents Participate in process improvement groups Assist coworkers in their duties with the limitations of the training and scope of the practice) All other duties as prescribed JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Customer focused and patient centered Enjoys being part of a diverse team Ability to multitask Comfort with change Experience with motivational interviewing a plus but not required. Willingness to learn motivational interviewing techniques required. Knowledge and understanding of Physiology and pathophysiology of common chronic disease states Symptoms of acute medical problems and appropriate protocols for advice and triage Medical terminology Pharmacology Basic knowledge and understanding of the pathophysiology and competency in the performance of the following clinical tasks Electrocardiogram Oxygen saturation Basic Wound care POC test & quality control) Blood glucose testing Urinalysis Stool guiaic Vital signs both manual and automatic including the performance of orthostatic vital signs Removal of staples and sutures Prepare for and chaperone pelvic examinations Assist with sterile procedures Specimen labeling Correct medical waste management practices Venipuncture Uncomplicated ear irrigation Administration of common medication and immunizations Managing and maintaining logs for medications and quality controls data Basic Knowledge of Medical Assistants role in patient safety and quality Falls prevention Patient transfers Communication and patient handoffs Normal ranges of signs and symptoms/when to alert the MD Hand washing Modifications for obese patients Patients with disabilities Infection control Proper use of personal protective equipment Role in medical emergencies Quality and pay for performance Joint commission compliance National safety goals Patient outcomes Health literacy Information technology Documenting patient interaction Electronic medical record (LMR) Prescription refill process Clinical messaging Patient gateway Percipio Basic knowledge of office operations and standards Front desk cross training Basic understanding of office procedures including filing copying scanning printing faxing. Phone skills: Ability to use phone system answer and screen calls put on hold Verbal skills: Ability to answer questions and give information as appropriate and communicate in a professional courteous clear concise manner. Writing skills: Basic use of email ability to take accurate and complete messages. Organizational skills: Ability to manage work processes in a neat and orderly way and to sort and alphabetize. Ability to follow instructions. System skills: Basic computer literacy and understanding of office systems ability to type and enter data.
