Senior Engineer Mechanical Simulation

We are seeking a detailoriented and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Bukit Damansara Malaysia. Responsible for engineering design and modifications related to Tunnel Ventilation System 3D CFD Simulation including the development of all related equipment and specifications and handling of procurement processes. May also support the installation operation and maintenance of mechanical systems. This role includes expertise in TVS design with Fire Simulation knowledge.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Effectively design and verify the TVS for Rail Road and Metro Tunnels
• Should be able to deal with the client directly and effectively respond to all the technical queries.
• Provide technical expertise for the mid to large size projects wherever needed.
• Prepare engineering calculations design drawings and specifications of mechanical ventilation systems for tunnels in a diverse range of projects.
• Ensure accuracy of design to employers Requirements documentation.
• Prepare Technical reports Calculations Drawings equipment selections and specifications heating and cooling load calculations pressure loss calculations Attenuator sizing calculations.
• Develop simulation on SES (Subway environment simulation) IDA Tunnel FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) or any other equivalent software for defining the air flow requirement of TVS fans and also for fire simulation for various scenarios.
• Develop 3D CFD simulation on Pyrosim or any other equivalent software for Smoke Management system.
• Provide guidance for space planning for TVS fans Damper sizing and smoke management system shaft requirements as per design scheme in coordination with all other disciplines involved in the design.
• Work in multidisciplinary teams review SMEP design drawings to correctly develop models that accurately reflect the tunnels network station(s) and facilities.
• Equipment selection in coordination with the vendor that aligns with the design intent.
• Space proofing of the tunnel ventilation equipment including equipment access and removal plans.
• Prepare and Check mode of operation table systems integration with control and monitoring systems.
• Design optimization/ Value engineering to provide the most efficient solution.
• Attend and manage Internal & external project / design audits.
• Identify risks and develop appropriate risk mitigation plan.
• Collects and organizes fundamental engineering data following established procedures.
• Engages in routine engineering tasks involving calculations and basic testing.
• Assist in design reports calculations drawings specifications cost estimates and project schedules

Qualifications :

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering is required for this opportunity
• Registered with Board of Engineer (BEM)
• A minimum of 8 to10 years of experience in Metro MRT/LRT Rail/Road tunnel ventilation design simulation
• Proficiency in SES (Subway environment simulation) IDA Tunnel FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) or any other equivalent software Strong knowledge of mechanical systems principles and industry standards
• Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills
• Ability to perform complex calculations and conduct engineering tests
• Experience in gathering and correlating engineering data
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Capability to work independently and manage multiple projects efficiently
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards
• Demonstrated ability to innovate and think creatively in engineering solutions
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
