Job Description

Sofitel Brisbane Central invites a passionate and talented Demi Chef La Carte to become an integral part of our distinguished culinary team.

Nestled in the heart of Brisbane Sofitel is renowned for its elevated dining experiences impeccable service and unwavering commitment to excellence. This is an opportunity to refine your craft within an environment that blends modern Australian cuisine with timeless French culinary artistry.

As Demi Chef you will work under the guidance of our Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef collaborating with a team of experienced professionals to deliver sophisticated la carte offerings that showcase both innovation and finesse. This role calls for a creative spirit meticulous attention to detail and a genuine passion for the culinary arts.

  • Maintain a clean and organised workstation adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Prepare and present la carte dishes to the highest standard of quality and consistency
  • Collaborate with the team to continuously enhance our culinary offerings
  • Maintain impeccable hygiene and kitchen standards in line with HACCP requirements
  • Demonstrate creativity precision and pride in every plate
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to streamline processes and improve efficiency
  • Contribute creative ideas for menu development and dish presentation
  • Assist in inventory management and minimise food waste
  • Respond promptly and professionally to special dietary requests and guest feedback
  • Support senior chefs during peak hours and special events
  • Participate in regular team meetings to discuss performance and areas for improvement
  • Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques to enhance our menu offerings
  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of highquality dishes according to our menu and chefs specifications.

Qualifications :

  • Culinary school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • 12 years of relevant work experience in a hotel or restaurant particularly in la carte service
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in a fastpaced highpressure environment
  • Strong teamwork skills with a collaborative and positive attitude
  • Excellent knife skills and proficiency in various food preparation techniques
  • Indepth knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Creativity and flair for innovative dish presentation
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Passion for culinary arts and commitment to continuous learning
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a dynamic kitchen environment.
