Position Summary Bancroft School is seeking a dedicated and studentcentered Middle School Academic Support Teacher to provide targeted instruction and intervention for students with diverse learning needs beginning August 2025. This position functions similarly to a Learning Specialist supporting students who require academic intervention individualized instruction or accommodations to thrive in the classroom. The ideal candidate will collaborate with teachers families and specialists to create and implement effective support strategies that promote student growth and confidence.
Key Responsibilities:Student Support & Intervention
- Provide smallgroup and oneonone instruction to students requiring additional academic support in literacy math and executive functioning skills.
- Design and implement individualized learning plans based on assessments student needs and best practices in intervention.
- Utilize researchbased instructional strategies and differentiation techniques to meet diverse learning styles.
- Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments adjusting instruction as needed.
Collaboration & Case Management
- Work closely with classroom teachers to modify instruction implement accommodations and support differentiated learning.
- Coordinate with external specialists school counselors and other support professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to student learning.
- Communicate regularly with families providing updates on student progress and strategies for support at home.
- Maintain documentation of student progress interventions and support plans in collaboration with school leadership.
Inclusive & Differentiated Instruction
- Foster a positive growthoriented learning environment that empowers students to develop confidence and independence.
- Implement strategies that support executive functioning organization and selfadvocacy skills.
- Guide teachers in best practices for differentiation and inclusive instruction within the classroom setting.
- Support the implementation of assistive technology and other resources that enhance learning.
Professional Development & SchoolWide Support
- Provide training and resources to teachers on strategies for supporting students with diverse learning profiles.
- Stay current on best practices in special education intervention and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Contribute to schoolwide initiatives focused on student support differentiation and academic success.
Qualifications & Skills:- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education Learning Disabilities or a related field.
- Special Education or Learning Specialist certification preferred.
- Prior experience as a Learning Specialist Special Education Teacher or Academic Support Teacher in a middle school setting.
- Deep understanding of adolescent development learning differences and intervention strategies.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with teachers families and specialists.
- Familiarity with responsetointervention (RTI) individualized learning plans (ILPs) and differentiated instruction.
- Experience using assessment tools and data to inform instruction.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
