Attleboro Community Academy Mathematics Teacher Grades 912
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal to develop students skills in mathematics. The position will consist of teaching in an alternative high school setting for atrisk students.
Hours: 12pm8pm MondayThursday;9am12pm Friday
Essential Functions
- Develop and administer math education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Apply an integrated approach to the teaching of math.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materialsthatare engaging relevant and handson.
- Coordinates with other professional staff members especially within grade level and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Employ a range ofassessment methods of student learning and progress and modify instructional methods to fit individual students needs including students with special needs.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of alternative teaching methods and classroom management.
- Ability to deescalate student to student conflict and student to teacher conflict.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods (including social emotional learning) and educational pedagogy as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
Certification/License:
- Massachusetts State Certification as a mathematicsEducation Teacher 9 12
- Motor Vehicle Operators License or ability to provide own transportation.
- SEI Endorsement preferred
Education:
Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment: Masters Degree in related area preferred.
Experience:
Prior experience with atrisk students a plus.
