Join our team as a Principal Mechanical Engineer where you will spearhead the design and support of Otis Gen3 products.
In this critical role you will ensure product integrity explore innovative opportunities and seamlessly integrate new component designs into existing systems.
You will work collaboratively to meet cost reliability and schedule commitments driving the future of our cuttingedge products.
On a typical day you will:
Conduct structural analysis design implementation and testing of a wide range of elevator components.
Lead systemlevel development and ensure seamless component integration.
Create comprehensive test plans and oversee product design and release for implementation.
Collaborate effectively in a crossfunctional team environment.
Leverage a strong mechanical engineering background to drive innovation and excellence.
What you will need to be successful:
BS Degree in mechanical engineering degree with 15 years experience
MA/MS degree with 10 years experience
Proven systemlevel design expertise with strong mechanical engineering skills including system and component modeling and design
Leadership and mentoring experience with excellent communication skills
Strong sense of ownership and customer (internal and external) management abilities
Proficient in Creo/Pro Engineer or similar 3D software and experienced with mechanical structural analysis using Ansys or other FEA software
Skilled in design documentation using Mathcad and handson testing experience
Experience with test and measurement equipment and Microsoft Project
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Proficient in hand calculations for static and dynamic analysis
Preferred experience in applying A17.1 Elevator code and resolving code issues
Indepth knowledge of elevator systems is preferred
Advanced understanding of IBC seismic and nonseismic strength requirements is a plus
Experience with building interface components like anchors inserts and weldments for various support structures is preferred
Strong background in supporting a manufacturing environment and process development is desirable
