Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The PreCollege Summer (PCS) Program Coordinator provides direction and support to the PCS Director by executing program goals and visions. This position oversees all marketing and promotional efforts supports the programming of course offerings and workshops and oversees the student registration process for admission. This position assists in the oversight of summer programming for PCS during the academic year and the daily implementation of PCS programming in the summer including assisting the Director with university faculty staff undergraduate and graduate students as well as high school staff students and parents. In addition to PCS the Program Coordinator also supports the larger mission of the Office of Early College Programs including UConns Early College Experience (ECE) program supporting the design planning and implementation of numerous programmatic events.

The position reports to the Director of PreCollege Summer with a line of communication to the Executive Director of the Office of Early College Programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates and executes program goals and needs for PCS by establishing course offerings workshops and student activities.
  • Serves as a Slate CoCaptain to create and launch the application and enrollment system.
  • Oversee the evaluation process of PCS applications to determine acceptance into the program.
  • Manages the PCS website and all communication pieces including the CRM system in Slate to recruit prospective students.
  • Develops both print and digital marketing materials to promote PCS through social media open house events expos and other opportunities to create awareness. Manages and makes PCS program purchases as a Procurement cardholder.
  • Collaborates programmatic needs with various University Departments such as Minor Protection Residential Life Dining Services Environmental Health & Safety Transportation ITS Registrar Office and Parking services to ensure that participants have a safe educational experience.
  • Directly supports the Director of PCS to plan and coordinate 30 PCS summer academic classes. This includes recruitment of faculty and support in framing of course content scheduling classes to minimize intercourse competition arranging classroom assignments coordinating summer staff support for faculty as needed and coordinating all logistics (classroom reservations transportation minor protection checks etc. to ensure a highquality handson learning experience for participants.
  • Support the creation of student and summer staff policies.
  • Assists the Director of PCS with the supervision of PCS graduate assistants 20 PCS residential summer staff supporting regular performance reviews and facilitating developmental conversations.
  • Responds to ECE and PCS registration billing and grading inquiries.
  • Assist with relevant OECP projects such as large student or faculty events etc.
  • Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelors degree in academic discipline.
  2. At least three years of professional experience in higher education early college programming academic outreach and/or student affairs.
  3. Experience coordinating large events.
  4. Marketing and promotions experience.
  5. Interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
  6. Experience working in team settings and developing professional relationships.
  7. Experience using MS Office (Word Access Excel and PowerPoint).
  8. Presentation skills and demonstrated experience communicating complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  9. Demonstrated capacity to learn new software and technology.
  10. Demonstrated ability to foster strong professional relationships.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Masters degree in Higher Education Student Affairs Secondary Education Counseling or a related field.
  2. Four or more years of experience in admissions advising TRIO Upward Bound Early College Programs.
  3. Experience with secondary and postsecondary educational institutions.
  4. Experience providing customer service.
  5. An understanding of the needs of and interest in working with high school students.
  6. Experience training and/or providing ongoing support for faculty professionals and student leaders.
  7. Working knowledge of relevant software including PeopleSoft Soapbox Slate Adobe Suite Canva Google Drive programs etc.
  8. Multimedia skills such as video editing newsletter development publication/flyer creation etc.
  9. Experience with HuskyCT/Blackboard applications.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This position requires a willingness and ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours.

Other rights terms and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).

*Please note that new university hires in nonteaching UCPEA positions will most likely be ineligible to continue contributing to the Connecticut Teacher Retirement System (TRS); regardless of current vestment level.
