Job Description

CASE is a global notforprofit and membership association whose vision is to advance education to transform lives and society. Our mission is to inspire challenge and equip communities of professionals to act effectively and with integrity to champion the success of their institutions. CASE serves over 90000 advancement practitioners at nearly 3000 member institutions advancing education in 72 countries with support from more than 4000 volunteers.

Broad and growing communities of professional practice gather under the global CASE umbrella. Currently these include advancement services alumni relations communications fundraising government relations institutional leadership and marketing. Individual members are at all stages of their career and may be working in universities schools colleges cultural organizations or other notforprofits. CASE membership also includes many corporate partners. CASE uses the intellectual capital and professional talents of an army of volunteers to advance its work.


Headquartered in Washington DC CASE works across all continents from its regional offices in London Singapore and Mexico City. CASE works to achieve a seamless experience for all its stakeholders: particularly its members volunteers and staff. Working together across time zones and borders CASE staff in all offices seek to make the ambitious OneCASE aspiration a reality.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Executive Director Business Development will play a crucial role in driving the growth and sustainability of our organization. This new position will be responsible for building strategic partnerships that expand membership or capacity to scale our strategy; conducting a comprehensive product and service pricing inventory and developing effective pricing strategies; identifying prospects for mergers and acquisitions and working with the CFO and COO to develop an investment fund for promising prospects; collaborating with the Sales Director to grow sales of consulting services; and working with the Human Resources team to develop training and business acumen for managers with revenue accountabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business development excellent communication skills a mindset for global curiosity and a passion for our mission.

Compensation:$115000$125000 base salarywith a competitive incentive package to be negotiated as part of the total compensation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partnership Development: Build and maintain relationships with prospects and partners that would accelerate membership growth or capacity aligned with our strategic plan.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Pricing Inventory: Conduct a comprehensive inventory of current pricing structures for services programs and products offered by the organization.
  • Pricing Strategy Development: Develop and implement a pricing strategy that aligns with the organizations goals ensuring competitiveness and sustainability.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Identify and evaluate potential prospects for mergers and acquisitions to enhance the organizations growth and impact.
  • Sales Collaboration: Work closely with the Sales Director to develop and implement strategies to grow sales of consulting services.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Monitor and report on the progress of business development activities including financial performance and impact metrics.
  • Training and Development: Collaborate with the Human Resources team to develop and implement training programs that enhance business acumen and revenue accountability for managers.
  • Outreach and Networking: Represent the organization at selected events conferences and meetings to promote our mission and expand our network.

Fiscal Management/Budget Responsibilities/Judicious Use of Resources

  • Exercises fiscal responsibility in the utilization of all CASE resources.

Liaison Responsibilities

  • Works cooperatively and diplomatically with all divisions and regions.
  • Liaises with CASE colleagues in other parts of the world to ensure the best sharing of ideas expertise and knowledge.
  • Incorporates tasks and/or projects related to objectives as directed by the CASE Strategic Plan.

Image Responsibilities

  • In keeping with the CASE Values Statement ensures that CASE is well represented by exercising a high degree of professionalism accuracy and ethics in all activities services and products.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.

JOB COMPLEXITY AND KNOWLEDGE

Problem Solving and Judgement

High level judgement and problemsolving skills are required as the incumbent is frequently faced with situations which require immediate action in response to issues and requests. The breadth and depth of understanding of an issue and the key internal/external persons handling the issue and the way in which the issue is handled all affect the outcome of the situation.

Professional and Organizational Knowledge

  • The position requires that the incumbent quickly develop a deep understanding of CASE its policies and procedures and an understanding of the culture and regional and divisional interdependencies.
  • The position requires a deep understanding and respect for the organizations systems and workflow.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in business Marketing NonProfit Management or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or a related role preferably in the nonprofit sector.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to write successful partnership proposals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problemsolving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
  • Experience in pricing strategy and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of merger and acquisitions processes.
  • Experience in sales strategy and collaboration.
  • Experience in training and development.
  • A demonstrated interest in advancing education in the notforprofit sector.

Alternative Work Arrangement: After 4 weeks of employment eligible staff are given the opportunity to work from home up to 2 days per week and inoffice 3 days per week.
