Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic outgoing and responsible collaborator with experience in a leadership role who loves connecting with children (particularly ages 2 to Grade 5 Do you excel at working with youth volunteers adult volunteers and parents and enjoy connecting with people from diverse social economic ethnic and spiritual backgrounds If this describes you we invite you to join our Tenth Kids Summer Camp team!
Tenth Church is seeking four skilled Summer Day Camp Leaders to lead youth volunteers adult volunteers and campers and assist in planning and organizing our busy twoweek Day Camps this summer. These camps include both a preschool and schoolage Vacation Bible School.
* Two of the four positions are subject to government funding by the 2025 Youth Canada Summer Jobs program. Successful candidates must meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the Canada Summer Jobs grant (see below).
Ways You Will Contribute:
  • Assist the Camp Director in planning and preparation for Summer Camp which includes purchasing resources preparing materials and decorating the space
  • Assist the Camp Director in the of Summer Day Camps which includes setting up before and cleaning up after each day
  • Provide leadership to youth volunteers adult volunteers and campers
  • Ensure the safety and care of all children while at Tenth Church and on field trips
  • Lead lessons games crafts and other activities for large and small groups of children
  • Other duties as assigned
What You Bring:
  • Previous experience working with children (age 2 to Grade 5 preferably in a leadership capacity
  • Ability to lead and support a staff and volunteer team
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain harmonious relationships (including conflict resolution skills) with staff youth and adult volunteers campers and families
  • Able to accept instructions and carry out duties efficiently and joyfully
  • Great communicator both verbal and written
  • Work well in teams both as a leader and as a group member
  • Highly organized team player with strong administrative skills and ability to work independently
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office is an asset
  • A basic understanding of Creation Care Theology and/or Environment Science is an asset
  • A heart for working with children and families from diverse social economic ethnic and spiritual backgrounds
  • Possess an authentic faith and walk with Jesus
CSJ Eligibility Criteria:
  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • A Canadian citizen permanent resident or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
This is a summer contract hourly position where you will work 40 hours per week for six weeks. The contract will commence in June and end in July/August 2025.
Salary: $18.50 per hour
