Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Teacher OnCall (TOC) to join our dynamic team of educators at Southpointe Academy. Our K5 TOCs play a critical role in supporting our schools mission to provide a nurturing and engaging learning environment for students. TOCs step in as a substitute teacher on an asneeded basis ensuring continuity in the educational process during the absence of our regular teaching staff. This position is ideal for individuals who are looking for flexible hours passionate about teaching and committed to fostering a positive learning experience for young learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver wellprepared lessons and provide effective classroom management while adhering to the schools curriculum and guidelines. Ensure a smooth transition in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that fosters curiosity critical thinking and active participation among students. Encourage student inquiry and facilitate discussions to enhance the learning experience.
- Maintain a safe respectful and orderly classroom environment promoting positive behaviour and reinforcing the schools values.
- Assist students with activities provide clarifications and offer additional guidance to help students demonstrate their learning.
- Collaborate with other teachers when necessary to ensure a cohesive learning experience. Communicate effectively with the regular classroom teacher and/or leadership team providing feedback on the days activities.
- Be adaptable to teaching various grade levels from Kindergarten to Grade 5 including teaching a range of subject areas such as Physical Education Music STEM Art and French.
- Be familiar with the schools safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure the wellbeing of students.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor of Education or Equivalent.
- BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate.
- Minimum 1 year of teaching experience is preferred.
Teacher on Call Salary:
- $300.00 per full day worked.
