Emergency guest (substitutes) teachers for the Washougal School District must hold a Bachelors Degree. While you are notrequired to complete a teaching program youmust be able to obtain an Emergency SubstituteTeacher certification with OSPI.
Emergency guest (substitutes) teachers may be called for open positions when regularly certified substitutes are unavailable.
Notice of any opening is usually 24 hours or less.

The job of a Emergency Guest (Substitute) Teacher is to facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of students providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students parents and administration regarding student progress expectations goals etc.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform single technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: controlling and motivating students; maintaining accurate records; and using pertinent software applications; adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment.
KNOWLEDGE is required of best professional practices in math. Must be able to perform algebra and/or geometry; read a variety of manuals write documents following prescribed formats and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge required to perform satisfactorily the functions of the job includes: knowledge of state and federal laws that govern school districts age appropriate activities stages of child development and safety practices and procedures.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather collate and/or classify data; and use basic jobrelated equipment. Flexibility is required to work independently or with others in a wide variety of circumstances; to work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and to operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; to work with similar types of data; and to utilize specific jobrelated equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: fostering positive relationships; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; working as part of a team; and working with frequent interruptions.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions. There is continual opportunity to significantly impact the organizations services.
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: Generally the job requires 10 sitting 50 walking and 40 standing. The job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience: Job related experience is desired. Education: Bachelors degree
