PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Hiring range for this position is: $30.97$38.72
Signing Bonus: New employees are eligible for a$5000 bonus;
The signing bonus will be paid in installments as follows:
$1000 on the first paycheck
$1000 after 3 months from the hire date
$1000 after 6 months from the hire date
$1000 after 9 months from the hire date
$1000 after 12 months from the hire date
OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
The Trades Specialist Plumber performs skilled plumbing installation and repair work on plumbing systems in cityowned or cityleased buildings and facilities.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs new installation repair and preventative maintenance of both residential and commercial plumbing systems
Monitors and inspects facilities equipment and systems to determine compliance with State standards and need for repair or upgrade
Reviews blueprints and construction plans
Monitors and oversees contract work for compliance to established standards
Analyzes malfunctions and makes repairs or adjustments
Coordinates monitors and/or performs installation of materials fixtures equipment and systems
Operates specialized tools and equipment; operates computerized monitoring and testing as well as reporting systems
Schedules and performs detailed plumbing preventive maintenance tasks
Schedules tests and certifies backflow prevention devises
Maintains records of operation maintenance and repairs
Prepares related reports; maintains inventory of parts and supplies
Trains subordinate employees as appropriate
May act as lead worker Performs other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge skills and abilities may be considered.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
At least 5 years progressively responsible plumbing experience
Knowledge:
Knowledge of practices procedures equipment and systems related assigned function
Applicable safety practices and procedures
Current State Plumbing and Building codes
Hazards and safety practices common to the construction industry
City policy procedures and division work guidelines
Mold identification and awareness
Asbestos identification and awareness
Skills:
Skill in the use of tools and equipment related to assigned function
Skill in the use of single person lifts and fall protection procedures
Skill in monitoring the work of assigned personnel through apprentices
Course Training (Proficient Level)
Advance Plumbing Training Course
OSHA 10hour General Industry Training certificate
OSHA 30hour General Industry Training certificate
Basic MS WORD Software completion
Abilities:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens

Read and comply with blueprints diagrams schematics manuals and specifications
Maintain accurate records logs and reports
Train and instruct other employees
Perform physical activities common to building maintenance work

Licenses and Certifications Required:
Colorado Drivers License
State of Colorado Journeyman Plumbing License
Must be able to obtain a CrossConnection and Backflow License within 6 months of employment
WORKING CONDITIONS
Essential Personnel:
When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
Moderate to heavy physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 100 pounds
Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Considerable walking and standing
Frequent performance of activities which require a full range of body movement including bending stooping pushing pulling and climbing
Hand/eye coordination for operation of maintenance and construction equipment
Vision to read reports and manuals
Speech to communicate with employees and citizens.
Equipment Used:
Operates tools equipment and vehicles common to plumbing trade maintenance and repair of buildings.
Operates equipment and vehicles common to facilities maintenance
Work Environment:
Works both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions with exposure to noise dust fumes chemicals paints and building materials.
May work on roofs crawl spaces secured areas and confined spaces May work oncall and varying shifts
