Job Description

      • Special Education Teacher (Middle School)
        Cedarhurst NY
        Employment Type: FullTime

        Position Overview:

        The school is a supportive and inclusive educational institution in Cedarhurst NY is seeking a dedicated Middle School Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction to students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing classroom environment implement differentiated instructional strategies and work collaboratively with students families and staff to promote academic and social growth.

        Key Responsibilities:Instruction & Student Support:
        • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
        • Provide engaging differentiated instruction in core academic subjects while addressing students unique learning styles.
        • Utilize evidencebased teaching strategies to support students with learning disabilities autism ADHD and other exceptionalities.
        • Implement behavior management strategies to promote a positive and structured classroom environment.
      • Collaboration & Communication:
        • Work closely with general education teachers therapists and paraprofessionals to support student learning.
        • Maintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and goals.
        • Participate in IEP meetings progress monitoring and datadriven instructional planning.
      • Assessment & Progress Monitoring:
        • Conduct formative and summative assessments to track student progress.
        • Maintain accurate records of student achievements behavior and interventions.
        • Adjust instructional strategies based on data and student performance.
      • Compliance & Professional Development:
        • Ensure adherence to state and federal special education regulations (IDEA Section 504 etc..
        • Maintain confidentiality and advocate for students educational needs.
        • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.
      • Qualifications:
        • Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field Masters preferred.
        • Certification: New York State Special Education Teaching Certification (Grades 59 or 712 required.
        • Experience: Prior experience working with middle school students with disabilities is strongly preferred.
        • Skills:
          • Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
          • Ability to create individualized and inclusive learning environments.
          • Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
      • Preferred Qualifications:
        • Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Structured Teaching and SocialEmotional Learning (SEL).
        • Familiarity with assistive technology and multisensory instructional strategies.
        • Proficiency in using IEP software and data collection tools.
      • Work Environment & Schedule:
        • Fulltime position following the School calendar.
        • Based in a supportive and collaborative school setting focused on student growth.
