South Burlington School DistrictPosition DescriptionJob Title: Kitchen CoordinatorLocation: District SchoolsJob Group: NonCertified NonUnion Support StaffReports To: Nutrition Service DirectorSummary: Coordinates and assists in the preparation and serving of quality food to studentsfaculty and staff in an efficient and professional manner. Ensures that safe and efficient foodpreparation service and clean up processes are followed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Responsible for ensuring proper food preparation for meals including but not limited toBreakfast and Lunch.2. Orders food as directed by supervisor and/or department guidelines.3. Maintains daily and monthly logs including but not limited to: Hazard Analysis and CriticalControl Point (HAACP) refrigeration receiving cooking and temperature.4. Maintains kitchen and food in accordance with local and state health department rules andschool policies. Observes and ensures all staff follow proper hygiene and sanitationprocedures in all aspects of daily duties.5. Works safely within established guidelines for lifting techniques and knife safety; keepsfacility picked up and hazard free and cooperates to keep coworkers safe.6. Remains current on job related knowledge including but not limited to: sanitation foodborne illness food contamination cooking and holding temperatures (safe food handling).May attend trainings.7. Performs other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities: The ability to cultivate and lead a collaborative teamenvironment is essential to the employees successful job performance. This position may assistthe Director in employment processes including but not limited to: selection performancemanagement and training. Assists administration in establishing and maintaining schoolbaseddiscipline and a positive learning environment for students.Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able toperform each essential duty satisfactorily. Valid Vermont Drivers License.Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions correspondence memos anddocuments such as: recipes safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and proceduremanuals. Ability to develop and write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively toindividuals small groups or before others from the greater school community. Ability tocommunicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing is essentialMathematical Skills: Ability to apply basic addition subtraction and multiplication skills andto calculate figures and amounts such as: weight proportions percentages area circumferencedistance and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. Ability to perform theseoperations using units of American money.Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructionsfurnished in written oral or diagram form. Demonstrated ability to deal with problemsinvolving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Other Skills and Abilities: Personal computer and spreadsheet experience. Effectiveorganization skills and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously isrequired. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Boardpolicies as they relate to the job responsibilities is essential. Ability to work in a friendly mannerwith coworkers and students. Basic knowledge of nutritional values in food served foodallergies and diet restrictions.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are typical of those that must be metby an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specificvision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception peripheral vision andcolor vision.
