Job Summary:

The Department of Emergency Medicine is excited to recruit a doctorallevel quantitativelyoriented highlymotivated trauma and injury researcher to contribute to clinical and epidemiologic research focused on lifethreatening injuries. Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of physiology and clinical study design. This position will play a key role as a research investigator within the CapeColoradoCombat (C3 Global Trauma Networks research team. The researcher in this position will be appointed to and build a career in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora Colorado.

The Research Lab and Field

The C3 Global Trauma Network conducts innovative collaborative federallyfunded trauma care research predominantly in hightrauma international settings. A variety of rigorous observational and interventional methodologies are used to fill contemporary clinical knowledge gaps. The C3 Network seeks to generate high quality evidence to enhance early trauma care with a special focus on improving patient outcomes in resourceconstrained settings (e.g. in South Africa). The C3 Network has a track record of NIH and U.S. Department of Defense funding including dozens of published peerreviewed manuscripts and scientific presentations. Our research also deliberately seeks to fill clinical and scientific gaps for civilians worldwide and the U.S. military.

Nature of Work

This fulltime 1.0 FTE) position will serve as an investigator at the rank of Research Assistant Professor and will collaborate with study colleagues at all levels of the organization. The position is nonclinical and suitable for any doctoral level applicant with relevant training and expertise. This position will work both independently and in close collaboration with the C3 Networks Principal Investigator Dr. NeeKofi MouldMillman MD PhD MSCS as well as collaborators and research staff domestically and internationally. To enable the incumbent to understand the international context and effectively supervise research activities international travel is a requirement of the position. There will also be opportunities for domestic travel to present research at conferences and to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Assistant Professor Research:

  • Doctoral degree (e.g. PhD MD DO MBChB DrPH ScD DNP DPT)
  • Track record of human subjects research in an acute care related field
  • Experience designing clinical trauma studies
  • Proven understanding of human physiology (e.g. through coursework publications or active field of research)
  • Multiple first author peerreviewed scientific publications in health journals
  • Experience preparing and submitting grants (as coI or PI)
  • Team science experience (i.e. held a leadership role in a collaborative multidisciplinary research team)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research in a clinical setting (e.g. emergency room ICU rehabilitation clinic physiology clinic etc.
  • Experience in emergency medicine critical care injury and/or trauma
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a research team and execute projects
  • Postdoctoral fellowship training especially with external grantwriting experience
  • Interest in global health resourcepoor settings highrisk populations disadvantaged populations or military populations
  • Statistics training and experience at intermediate level (e.g. can develop and run own multivariable regression models timeseries analyses and survival plots etc.
  • Experience with design or analysis in clinical trials
  • Experience conducting epidemiology or research with large or complex datasets
  • Presentation at national or international scientific meetings (oral preferred over posters)

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range or hiring range for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor Research: $117000.

The above salary represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is nonexempt.
