We began operating in 1946 and since 2002 the St. Louis Business Journal has recognized us as one of the top 150 privately owned businesses in St. Louis. Midwest Petroleum operates 60 stores within a 150mile radius that employs approximately 600 employees. Midwest Petroleum markets fuel through the ZXConoco and Phillips 66 brands. Primary Purpose of Job: As an Accountant your primary responsibility is to enter data from a variety of financial documents. These documents include but are not limited to vendors invoices tax payments utilities bills and other expense reports. This position includes processing and monitoring invoices over all of Midwest Petroleums retail locations and other assets. The role requires indepth knowledge of SharePoint Excel and use of scanned files to help complete job duties. Using all these tools to help crossverify and check that all entered documents have matching and accurate information. The Accountant will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to assist with any special projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Manage all accounting transactions from Midwest Petroleum.
- Assist with monthly quarterly and annual closings.
- Checks and reconciles:
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- External Auditing Reports
- Manages balance sheets and profit/loss statements.
- Crossreference audit reports with vendor invoices to maintain accurate information on products and money at each retail location.
- Audits financial transactions and documents as needed.
- Complies with all company local state and federal accounting and financial regulations.
- Creates periodic reports such as balance sheets profit & loss statements etc. as instructed.
- Maintains accurate financial records.
- Participates in internal and external auditing processes as needed.
- Handle any other work that can be assigned at the supervisors discretion.

Physical Requirements This position is performed in a fastpaced environment with frequent exposure to general office equipment beverage equipment coolers and any other sitespecific equipment/factors. You could also encounter exposure to hazardous materials and loud noises. This job requires the ability to walk stand bend and reach regularly. Must be able to frequently be required to lift push or pull weight of at least 5 to 75 pounds. Ability to work in different Midwest Petroleum Stations.
