Telemundo Arizona is seeking a News Anchor/MMJ/Consumer reporter responsible for the onair delivery of daily newscasts for both the Phoenix and Tucson regions. The anchor will also have responsibility for our Responde consumer reporting efforts. The role requires candidates to write & edit news stories for all our platforms including broadcast web social media and OTT. The individual will work closely with producers to ensure stories are accurately written and presented on all platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Present newscasts to the viewer professionally including breaking news during live newscasts outside regularly scheduled newscasts and on all our news platforms including digital social media and OTT.
- Set up write and edit news stories for the stations newscasts recorded programs and/or other live station broadcasts either in the studio or out on location.
- Work with our consumer Responde Unit to help solve consumer issues in the Phoenix and Tucson markets.
- Write and produce stories headlines and news updates for broadcast and all digital platforms including OTT.
- Present a completed story with fair accurate and communityrelevant content.
- Generate ideas and report breaking news in the studio or location.
- Coordinate organize and conduct interviews.
- Actively involved in sharing news content on Social Media platforms
- Follow NBC Telemundo Social Media Policies and Standards
- Telemundo weekend anchor and threedayaweek Responde/MMJ for the consumer investigative unit
- Anchor special projects and nonnews shows.
- Research plan and schedule stories or segments.
- Be expected to report/anchor from the field live shots interviews and package stories.
- Make appearances at community events including with social and civic groups and at schools and colleges on behalf of the station.
- Must be knowledgeable on daily news events aware of past events and understand news in the Phoenix and Tucson markets.
- Quickly adjust to late changes and be aggressive in breaking news coverage.
- Must understand the stations mission and priorities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a television reporter; Anchoring Experience
Shooting and Editing Skills with various editing software including Adobe Premier. - BA or BS in Journalism Communications or Political Science preferred.
- Must have excellent Spanish Language writing skills and powerful speech skills.
- Must be able to adlib effortlessly in several situations particularly breaking news.
- Enterprise reporting skills preferred. Strong live reporting skills are necessary.
- Must be able to handle working under the pressure of intense deadlines.
- Must be able to work effectively with others in a team environment.
- Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work any of the 24x7 shifts and willingness to work long hours and on weekends and holidays with short notice.
