About the Role
ALTEN UK is seeking an experienced Systems Design Engineer with expertise in aerospace and optoelectronic systems to join a highprofile defence project. In this role you will play a key part in designing and developing advanced systems that meet the highest industry standards. Working autonomously you will be involved in defining system requirements developing design documentation and leading the design and development of complex systems. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive experienced professional to contribute to innovative aerospace solutions within a collaborative and dynamic team environment.
Responsibilities
- Define and document systems requirements and design ensuring alignment with performance goals and project objectives.
- Work on the lefthand side of the Vmodel translating system requirements into effective design strategies integration plans and test procedures.
- Define system interfaces boundaries and operational behaviours ensuring clarity in how subsystems interact and function.
- Develop test procedures and carry out integration and verification testing gathering evidence to confirm system requirements have been met.
- Conduct peer reviews of technical artefacts and provide feedback while sharing knowledge and best practices with the broader team.
- Proactively identify and address potential risks blockers or issues to ensure the project stays on track and key milestones are achieved.
Qualifications :
Essential Skills:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in systems design particularly in aerospace or defence sectors with a strong background in optical systems or optoelectronic engineering preferred.
- Proven experience with the lefthand side of the Vmodel (requirements analysis design integration).
- Demonstrable experience in requirements engineering including elicitation decomposition and analysis.
- Strong understanding of systems interfaces boundaries and other external factors impacting design.
- Develop functional definitions of system behaviour and ensure the systems performance aligns with the specified needs
- Ability to analyse operational concepts and work proactively in identifying and resolving project challenges.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with decomposition of systems design to subsystem level.
- Knowledge of systems modelling techniques.
- Contribute to test procedure development and support the verification of the system through integration and verification testing.
- A selfstarter who can drive projects forward and overcome obstacles.
Qualifications/Security:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Masters preferred) OR
- Military/Armed Forces background in a technical or engineering role is equally valued.
- Must be a Sole UK National and SC clearable
