Job Description

Position Specifics
TheManufacturing Engineer supports the manufacturing process by designing/improving tooling & equipment; automation and improved utilization of manufacturing resources; cost reduction projects in production shops involvement in implementation of focus factories capital equipment justification selection and commissioning.
Planning and routing work through the manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with the planning department and Senior Manufacturing Engineer to plan and route jobs for daily manufacture.
  • Support and assist with Lean implementation.
  • Assist with design and establish tooling and new equipment for minimizing setup improving quality and increasing productivity. Develop new/improve existing manufacturing methods processes and procedures.
  • Support routine manufacturing activity from Manufacturing Engineering function with expertise in metal fabrication (burning forming welding etc. and final assembly (mechanical & electrical).
  • Support maintenance department using engineering background to carry out various projects such as machine repair modifications and facilities improvement.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow space requirements and equipment layout.
  • Collects and presents data in support of Safety Quality Deliverable and Cost (SQDC) metrics
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements researching testing methods and conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Involvement in the formation of plant layout and assembly process improvement.
  • Support capital equipment justification selection procurement and implementation.
  • Design jigs & fixtures and specify tooling required to minimize setups improve quality and increase productivity.
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Provides technical assistance and training for assigned plant operations.
  • Ensure that manufacturing has accurate and detailed information on specifications to produce equipment.
  • Ensure lessons learned are analyzed and documented.
  • Provides manufacturing information by answering questions and requests.
  • Provides manufacturing decisionmaking information by calculating production labor and material costs.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods.
  • Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise.
  • Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Degree in mechanical/manufacturing/industrial engineering.
  • Manufacturing is desired as a minor in the case of mechanical/industrial engineering.
  • Minimum of 34 years experience as a Manufacturing or Tooling Engineer in low volume/job shop type of environment.
  • Must be PC and CAD literate.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints factory drawings and machine tool specifications.
  • Must have excellent leadership communication technical and analytical skillsets.
  • Must be a selfstarter and work independently.
