The Core Writing and Writing Across the Curriculum Program at Fairfield University invites applications for one fulltime Visiting Assistant Professor to start September 1 2025. Having recently completed revision of its Core Fairfield Universitys exciting new writing curriculum requires students to complete four writing classes including a new Introduction to Rhetoric and Composition course (a hybrid of WAC and Writing about Writing approaches).
VAP positions typically carry a 4/4 course load in Core Writing. Successful candidates will be committed to excellence in teaching and academic service and will demonstrate thorough knowledge of the field.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition is strongly preferred. ABDs are also considered.
Evidence of exemplary teaching of college composition courses is required.
Understanding of contemporary best practices in the teaching of rhetoric and composition
and Writing Across the Curriculum is a must.
