Job Description
Howmet Aerospace Inc. is currently seeking a fulltime Senior Manager Product Integrity to further develop the companys product integrity program using product safety and quality standards and principles in partnership with the business. This role will report to the Senior Director Product Integrity and will be based at one of the large Howmet plants in the Midwest or East Coast of the United States. Relocation benefits are available.
The selected individual will be responsiblefor staying current on applicable quality and product safety regulatory industry agency government and customer standards and implementing processes and policies to support compliance with these standards through the product life cycle. They will conduct comprehensive audits to support continuous improvement of the Product Safety Management System (PSMS). They will develop strategic initiatives to further implement the product integrity program within the company. This role ideally will be on a succession plan for advancement to a director level role. Preparation for a director level opportunity will be tied in with this roles major activities.
Major Activities/Key Challenges
- Assess the manufacturing business processes for risk to the company and determine appropriate actions based on the risks identified including immediate mitigation if required
- Work with Business Segment Quality leaders to ensure that all businesses have robust and documented product quality and safety processes in place
- Provide recommendations to location and executive management on improving the control environment and increasing operational efficiencies
- Direct the efforts of formal audits to ensure the product quality and safety processes are being applied consistently across the company
- Analyze customer complaints and conduct failure investigations to determine rootcause and develop risk mitigation action plans
- Validate new product development is conducted to guidelines ensuring product safety assurance and control plans are implemented prior to beginning production
- Stay abreast of current quality and regulatory trends and methodologies in the applicable industry and utilize this information for developing proactive strategies
- Assist Legal with internal reviews and support the Enterprise Risk Management process
- Coordinate the publication of the quarterly report for the Board of Directors when requested
- Assist with preparing presentations and communications for Board of Directors.
- Travel to domestic and international company locations is required but can be selfpaced and may be as much as 50 in a normal year. Probability of 4 international trips per year with comp time applied in certain conditions
- Transfer knowledge throughout the company through best practice sharing
- Evaluate and test the internal controls of business processes for the companys operating locations and key processes; communicate and train employees on these processes to ensure compliance
- Utilize data analysis tools during preaudit planning and audit
Essential Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- A team player can collaborate and consult effectively in global teams across timezones and different cultures. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and execute audits
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing to present information clearly and concisely
- Ability to analyze risk and make decisions on mitigating actions
- Experience successfully conducting audits; capable of coordinating processes across departments and partnering with audiences at all levels of management
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; comfortable working through potentially complex policy process and peoplerelated organizational dynamics
- Aptitude to plan and prioritize own work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
- Exposure to various business functions such as: quality assurance product validation nonconforming material control procurement and product safety assurance processes
- Strong business acumen specifically with communication and the ability to effectively communicate with the executives and other members of leadership teams.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a related field
- Minimum of 10 years product safety quality assurance program management engineering and/or operations leadership in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to effectively communicate and present complex information to high level leadership team
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder) Political Asylee or Refugee
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical field
- Professional Certification (CQA CRE CSSBB etc.
- Experience in auditing ISO9000 AS9100 and or IATF16949
- Experience in auditing heat treatment nondestructive testing and laboratory testing
- Experience utilizing Microsoft applications (Word Excel)
- Strong business acumen and communication abilities that extend from the manufacturing floorto the Board of Directors
Salary range:$120k$150k/year approximation (actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education experience skillset and/or location).
