The Department of Humanities and Communication at the College of Arts and Sciences in Prescott Arizona is seeking to fill two 9month fulltime nontenure track faculty positions starting in August 2025. These are ranked renewable positions with opportunities for promotion.
Responsibilities:
- Teach a 4/4 load of undergraduate courses including firstyear composition and 200level professional writing courses.
- Instruct newly developed courses and potentially teach 400level communication courses paired with engineering capstone projects.
- Additional teaching opportunities may include lowerlevel courses in rhetoric cultural studies digital rhetoric film and upperlevel humanities courses.
- Provide service to the department college and campus.
Successful candidates will also support the department college and campus through service.
Qualifications
Minimum
Ph.D. in Writing Studies Rhetoric and Composition Technical and Professional Writing or related field at the time of the appointment: August 15 2025.
Preferred
We are interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Experience in participating in programmatic assessment and curriculum design for firstyear writing and humanities courses.
- Experience teaching technical writing and/or business communication courses that provide practical rhetorical knowledge to students in various majors.
- Collaborative teaching teamteaching or writing across the curriculum
- Professional experience writing in the disciplines e.g. in intelligencegathering communities the gaming industry engineering / simulations industries.
