Matic is bringing families out of the stone age of remarkably dumb disc home robots. Humanity spends 2.5 trillion hours annually on home chores worth $25 trillion in wasted economic value. We are on a mission to recapture this time and value with fully autonomous useful elegant and affordable WallEesque home robots that families love and cannot fathom their lives without.

Our approach
In 2017 we observed 200 selfdriving car startups and an equal number of industrial robotics startups but the home autonomy and robotics space had been dramatically overlooked. While AI is becoming more ubiquitous families are still stuck spending dozens of hours per week on repetitive household chores.

At Matic were leveraging advanced technology to address this problem. Weve started by reimagining our first product in fully autonomous floorcleaning robots. Just like consumers adopted Cell Phones then PDAs then iPods and Blackberries before adopting the iPhone to replace all we believe that consumers will adopt singlepurpose elegant and affordable robots that belong and become part of their homes first before we get onerobottorule all chores.

Our goal is to continue automating other forms of household labor shipping useful affordable and privacyfirst robots to our users that solve real problems while building iteratively toward more complex tasks and capabilities over time.

Privacy first

Our robots are also private by design with all the computes on the edge device. We believe that families shouldnt have to jeopardize their privacy just to get some help with the constant drudgery of home chores.

About the role

As a Quality Engineer at Matic youll be instrumental in ensuring that our autonomous home robots meet the highest standards of performance reliability and customer satisfaction. Based in Mountain View California youll work closely with our production engineering and product teams to design and implement quality control processes that uphold Matics commitment to delivering elegant and dependable robotic solutions. This fulltime role offers the chance to shape the quality framework of a fastgrowing startup directly impacting the experience of families who rely on our products.

What youll do:

• Develop implement and perform quality assurance processes to evaluate the performance durability and safety of Matics robotic products.

• Conduct root cause analysis on defects or failures collaborating with engineering teams to design effective solutions and prevent recurrence.

• Design and execute testing protocols including functional stress and environmental tests to validate product reliability.

• Monitor production processes to identify quality risks recommending improvements to enhance consistency and efficiency.

• Establish and maintain quality metrics tracking performance data to drive continuous improvement across manufacturing and design.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations adapting processes to meet evolving requirements.

• Work crossfunctionally to integrate quality checkpoints into hardware and software development lifecycles.

• Document quality procedures creating clear guidelines and training materials for production teams to follow.

What we look for:

• Bachelors degree in engineering (mechanical electrical industrial or related field) or equivalent experience.

• Preferred 2 years of experience in hardware engineering ideally in consumer electronics robotics or manufacturing environments.

• Strong understanding of quality control methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma Lean SPC) and testing techniques.

• Analytical mindset with experience in root cause analysis failure mode analysis (FMEA) and datadriven decisionmaking.

• Proficiency with tools like statistical software CAD or quality management systems; familiarity with robotics hardware or software is a plus.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams balancing technical expertise with clear communication.

• Proactive problemsolver with a keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering flawless products.

• Comfortable thriving in a fastpaced startup environment where priorities can shift quickly.
