Job Description

HUMAN RESOURCES INTERN
The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati (JFC) is hiring a summer intern for the Human Resource department to assist in providing professional human resource services to the agencies we serve.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resource Intern will serve as back up to other HR team members and otherwise support the HR team by providing back office assistance in data entry in HRIS system new employee set up benefit and leave administration and more. The intern will also have the opportunity to attend or observe certain aspects of HR work including talent acquisition onboarding document handling benefits administration and also various employee meetings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The HR Intern may do all or some of the following:
  • Perform routine tasks to administer and execute human resource services such as talent recruitment compensation benefits leave performance and talent management workers comp and unemployment.
  • Accurately input/update employee information for new hires pay rate changes benefit electionstime keeping records and similar information.
  • Handle inquiries from applicants employees and supervisors and refer matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Prompt and ongoing responsiveness in all communications
  • Participate in new hire orientation and other meetings as assigned.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of all confidential information documents and files.
  • Support initiatives and HR projects as assigned.
  • Conduct or acquire background checks and verifications.
  • Clerical work as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word Excel and PowerPoint) and use of Outlook for email and calendars
  • Ability to learn HRIS system.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE & TIME COMMITTMENT:
  • Minimum of 1 year of college in human resources studies business studies or direct experience working in human resources preferred.
  • $15/hour
  • 3 days per week with potential for 4 some weeks based on availability; preferred from midMay 19th through August 1st. Dates are negotiable.
