Pines currently has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant with Phlebotomy responsibilities in our growing Fort Fairfield practice. Qualified applicants must exhibit a commitment to our vision mission and goals while delivering exceptional patient care. The successful applicant will be responsible for the patients of the practice ensuring smooth daily operations. Screens patient calls to the providers assists providers with procedures and performs duties at work sites as designated. Perform a variety of venipuncture techniques and collects blood specimens from patients in the office setting. Applicants must be competent with computers have excellent verbal and written communication skills be outstanding listener be problem solver prioritize workload and be able to work professionally and independently. Prior experience is preferred but we will train the right applicant.

Essential Functions:

  1. Ability to communicate verbally in a professional manner with patients providers and staff.
  2. Ability to follow directions from physician or midlevel provider.
  3. Ability to record patient data in the electronic medical records for providers (i.e. vital signs vision tests histories etc..
  4. Providing patient education on medications as needed.
  5. Ability to process lab work and office procedures and make appointments for diagnostic or specialty testing while educating patients about procedures and preparation for procedures.
  6. Prepares (to include stocking of medical supplies as needed) and cleans exam rooms for provider/patient needs.
  7. Completes proper sterilization of all office instruments and equipment as necessary.
  8. Assesses all clinical calls with the provider to determine acuity.
  9. Must have the ability to administer injections and have knowledge of immunizations.
  10. Maintains smooth flow in the daily schedule between providers and patients.
  11. Maintains electronic medical records reads and adds dictation to records scanning lab results.
  12. Upon provider orders relays patient prescriptions to the pharmacist followup orders and notification of test results.
  13. Responsible for obtaining and preparing electronic medical records for providers to review and document.
  14. Performs a variety of routine blood drawing procedures including venipuncture using standard equipment such as vacutainer tubes and sleeves tourniquets syringes and butterfly needles.
  15. Interacts directly with patient records explain procedures allay fears and elicit cooperation.
  16. Utilizes standard procedures for the maintenance of positive patient identification; records appropriate collection information by the established protocol.
  17. Processes registers orders labels and stores blood samples for subsequent analysis.
  18. Maintains the inventory of supplies reordering as required; stacks supplies on carts and hand trays.
  19. Perform various quality control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.


Requirements


Availability Requirements:
Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM. May require evening or weekend hours.


Education:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Maintain Medical Assistant Certification or obtain within one year of the date of hire.
  • At least one year of recent directly related experience including three months practicum gained in a physician practice hospital or laboratory setting or a Phlebotomy Certificate.
  • Must maintain BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
