We are looking for an SEL specialist to join our team. Our SEL specialist works to strengthen and facilitate the educational process by assisting in the identification and remediation or management of behavior for individual students. They work closely with the principal and guidance counselor as an Educational Support Team as well as with teachers to promote a safe and healthy environment in the entire school community that is conducive to student learning. We are a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school. The SEL Specialist helps the principal with the coordinator responsibilities for PBIS and works closely with our coach.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Communicate a clear vision to all stakeholders that all students will learn with a particular focus on students who face social/emotional learning challenges. Collaborate with all school personnel to promote a safe and healthy school environment Triage behavior infractions then investigate process with students and communicate with teachers and parents OR refer case to the principal Collaborate with Principal on decisions related to behavior infractions; Enter and track behavior observations on a regular basis Support implementation of classroomlevel social emotional aspects of MTSS (i.e. CICO behavior planning celebrations) Assist teachers with challenging situations (i.e. simple FBA BIP classroom changes) Partner with OCSU Social Emotional Coach as needed Act as Designee for Hazing Harassment and Bullying (HHB) processThe Orleans Central Supervisory Union is comprised of two school districts (Lake Region Union ElementaryMiddle School and Lake Region Union High School) supporting six K8 elementary schools the Orleans Central Early Childhood Program and Lake Region Union High School.Orleans Central Supervisory Union is located in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom which is known for scenic and rugged area of hills sugarbushes farmland and lakes.
