Job Description
Independently sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals and grant commitments (e.g. assays cell/tissue culture animal studies etc.. Contributes to the planning design and modification of studies and experiments in the research lab setting. Monitors results reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications. Collects enters summarizes and analyzes data. May oversee and assist with the training of residents fellows and temporary lab personnel in lab techniques. Works with minimal supervision and performs assignments independently as discussed and approved by Principal Investigator.
Qualifications
Requires bachelors degree in biology chemistry or other relevant science with 4 years of research laboratory experience. Masters degree in biology chemistry or other relevant science preferred.
Preferred:
Animal Models:Managing colonies including maintenance mating monitoring transgenic lines injections genotyping gavage blood collection and tissue isolation.
Lab and Project Management:Developing lab procedures maintaining equipment training others managing inventories ensuring safety compliance IACUC protocol setup and maintenance and ordering supplies.
Cell Culture:Culturing primary and tumoral cell lines establishing stable cell lines from tumors single cell cloning and differentiating macrophages.
Bacterial Culture:Preparing culture media conducting growth curves streaking plates spot plating and preparing glycerol stocks.
Molecular Biology:Extracting DNA and RNA performing RTqPCR and PCR designing primers and preparing samples for RNA sequencing.
Flow Cytometry:Processing and staining cells designing flow panels operating flow cytometers analyzing data and analyzing murine tissues.
Additional Techniques:Generating acellular extracellular matrix conducting wound healing spheroid formation and growth curve assays ELISA microscopy immunofluorescent staining and histological staining.
Software Skills:Proficient in Microsoft 365 FlowJo Graphpad Prism ImageJ mLIMS mouse colony management software and Sigma Plot.
