Team Overview
The Senior Staff Embedded Engineer is a member of the Advanced Development Organization responsible for embedded system solutions for the next generation lidar sensor. The candidate will be onsite and responsible for designing stateoftheart circuits testing and system integration. In this role you will be responsible for electrical systems ideation design implementation modeling and support volume rampup.
Responsibilities
- Deliver nextgeneration bestinclass embedded systems concepts and solutions for Luminars LiDAR products.
- Lead mentor and collaborate with a worldclass highly skilled and capable embedded systems engineering team.
- Provide opportunities for team members professional growth and development.
- Drive solutions and collaborate with crossfunctional teams to enable nextgeneration bestinclass LiDAR products.
- Facilitate and participate in the invention process both for embedded systems as well as algorithm solutions which enable nextgeneration bestinclass LiDAR products.
- Manage project priorities and scope to meet schedule. Collaborate with other highly skilled embedded and algorithm teams within the company to deliver solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering physics mechanical engineering or related degree
- 10 years of working experience on embedded systems development
- 5 years of working experience with FPGA/SoC development
- Working experience with task management and common project management tools
- Working experience with SoC devices including but not limited to Xilinx SoC
- Working experience with digital signal processing algorithms and their deployment in Embedded Systems/FPGA
- Familiar with several programming languages C/C Python Matlab)
- Working knowledge of servo control theory and algorithms
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters or PhD Degree in related engineering field
- Experience with LiDAR or otherwise Optomechanical Systems / APDs / Lasers / TECs
- Responsible for architecting and developing hdl/c) for SoCbased embedded systems using Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale SoCs
- Experience with Xilinx RFSoC Devices
- Familiar with Verilog and VHDL
- Experience with developing and deploying Digital Signal Processing Algorithms in embedded systems
- Experience with developing and delivering servomechanical control systems via embedded systems
- Experience collaborating in ASIC development and/or developing RTL for ASIC
- Experience with common devops and developer tools (Git/Jira/Docker/Static Analysis/Linting)

At Luminar your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays a base between $140000 and $190000 per year. Within this range individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including jobrelated skills experience and relevant education or training. You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity in the form of restricted stock unit awards comprehensive medical and dental coverage 401k plan life and disability benefits flexible time off paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement for formal education related to advancing your career at Luminar. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire and schedule type.
