GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The BWH Department of Medicine (DOM) is comprised of nearly 1200 faculty 20 Divisions $250 million in annual professional clinical revenue 365 residents and fellows and $425 million in annual research expenditures. The DOM Analysis and Planning group is the primary administrative resource for program and project development (analysis planning and evaluation) and program review (assessment performance improvement support). Additionally working closely with Division sponsors the DOM Analysis and Planning group is involved in all of the Departments network development initiatives efforts to expand the footprint and expertise of the DOM beyond the hospitals Longwood Medical Area presence.
Reporting to the Director of Analysis and Planning the Project Manager will primarily support the Departments network development efforts. This includes early stage business development market analysis financial modeling business plan development and project management. Additionally the Project Manager will support highprofile initiatives that improve the overall operations efficiency and fiscal condition of the DOM.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The positions primary responsibilities include the following:
Business Planning & Project Management
- In collaboration with Brigham and Womens Physicians Organization (BWPO) Brigham and Womens Hospital (BWH) and/or DOM business partners project manage high profile network projects initiated by the DOM
- Understand the project objectives and draft and maintain project plans and tracking documents that meet the projects objectives
- Facilitate and lead project meetings
- Identify resources required to meet the project goals
- Solve problems and issues as they arise in a timely manner
- Create and facilitate workgroups to develop recommendations for senior leadership
- Create presentations for management teams and when needed deliver presentations to the above constituents
- Manage and assist in the development of business plans
- Support negotiations with outside institutions
- Working in collaboration with the Office of General Counsel draft and review services contracts; identify areas of risk for DOM and BWPO
- Collaborate with outside institutions and serve as a business partner for answering questions and fulfilling needs of external partners
- Continually review DOM activities across all entities for optimal efficiency
- Lead special projects which are central to improving analytical tools internal processes and the overall management decision process
Analysis & Reporting
- Lead strategic analyses in support of business decisionmaking
- Organize data and written information into draft projects and proposals for stakeholders review
- Interface with the Director of Analysis and Planning and other DOM leaders to capture and analyze financial budget operational research and training data
- Design and maintain executive dashboards to report on the status of financial operational billing and administrative information on all DOM and DOMrelated BWH lines of business and accounts
- Issue monthly financial statements summarizing comprehensive financial performance and budgetary implications of the network initiatives
- Create financial models and analyses for decision support of key DOM initiatives
- Provide internal consulting services to the DOM divisions on operational and financial matters
- Assist with other analytical assignments and ad hoc reporting as required
Supervisory
- Provide daytoday oversight of the DOM Project Analyst assist in organizing work setting priorities and timelines and determining and obtaining the resources required to meet those priorities
- Provide direction to financial analysts when assigned to Analysis and Planning projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree required; masters degree in relevant field strongly preferred
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in healthcare or business environment with extensive project management network development or business development duties
- Ability to prepare interpret and analyze financial statements is required
- Prior experience working on a team is required
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Word Excel and PowerPoint is required; experience with MS Visio and MS Access preferred

- Strong financial analysis and modeling skills: experience with assessing the viability stability and profitability of a business program or project
- Ability to effectively communicate and present issues to appropriate levels of internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor peers and/or direct reports
- Familiarity with legal contracting processes and standard contract terminology
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Astute attention to details and commitment to accuracy and integrity of all data reports and communications

- Strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record in delivering outstanding customer service
- Ability to manage multiple complex and concurrent projects and reestablish priorities as necessary and provide guidance to direct reports with the same challenges

- Exceptional judgment and discretion in interacting with constituencies (internal and external) on sensitive political fiscal and confidential issues
- Knowledge of standard PHS systems (e.g. PeopleSoft SRC POLR Document Direct etc. a plus
