What is the Opportunity
As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design procurement early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
Reporting to the Tehcncial Director this role will support work within the DNNP project and will be responsible for planning deisgn and of the temporary work structures.
What Youll Do Here:
- Work closely with filed team to understand their needs and prepare concept design for all required temporary structures
- Collaborate with external engineers and internal team to create detailed technical drawings and schematics
- Create and finalizing shop fabrication drawings including custom fabrication and design
- Material take off and generation of bill of materials
- Conduct quality checks on completed work to identify any errors or discrepancies
- Support all projects through the fabrication process or temporarysteel structures
- Design/plan and supervision of all structural steel required for: Working platform Brackets Access scaffolding Base plates anchorage Tie off point working at height elements tie backs guying and bracing all structures during construction
- Provides status and progress reports to customer project team and management
- Interface with client representatives design engineers consultants other contractors etc.
- Ensure project is constructed in accordance with QA Programs and project quality
- All other duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Table:
- Post secondary education in an Engineering Civil discipline
- Professional engineer (P.Eng) required
- Minimum 10 years experience in structuraldesign and detailing with a preference of expeirence intempoarary structures
- Excellent interpersonal communication (both oral and written) skills
- Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team
- Organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multitask/ Service orientated
- Thrive on a fast pacedenvironment
