Job Summary:
The Grounds Keeper is responsible for ensuring the grounds are maintained in a clean orderly and attractive manner. Responsible for ensuring the grounds are free of debris trash; cleans sidewalks and disposes of debris and trash properly. Responsible for monitoring the upkeep and cleanliness of the grounds in the daily performance of rounds. Handles basic preventative and corrective maintenance tasks. Assists other teammates with collecting trash from inside the building and cleaning patient rooms.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: Preferred at least one year of experience as grounds keeper but not required.
Licensure/Certification: Must have a current valid SC Drivers License or obtain a valid SC Drivers License within ninety 90 days of employment.
Knowledge/Skills: A basic knowledge of all relative codes (i.e. DHEC TJC OSHA EPA and LIFE SAFETY CODES) is required. Position requires a working knowledge of the correct procedures for packing storing and transporting of regular solid waste regulated medical waste pharmaceutical hazardous waste and soiled linens.
Other: This position requires operation of a vehicle for Roper St. Francis Healthcare business. Due to this job requirement the selected candidate/employee must possess and maintain a valid current South Carolina drivers license within 90 days of placement. In addition the selected candidate/employee must be insurable under the Roper St. Francis Healthcare vehicle insurance plan which will be verified by reviewing licensure and driving record.

Work Demands/Environment: Constant standing. Frequent walking bending stooping and stretching. Frequent lifting moving or carrying pushing or pulling of weight up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Intermittent stooping kneeling crouching or crawling. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Possible exposure to blood body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials communicable diseases toxic substances biohazardous materials and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Frequent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Constant exposure to wet or humid (nonweather) conditions. Intermittent exposure to risk of electrical shock. Moderate to loud noise level in work area. Requires handeye coordination.
