The Service & Team:
We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Direct Payment
Team as a Direct Payment Officer.
The Role:
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting individuals with Direct Payments advice
as well as arranging set up of their Direct Payment. This includes providing information about the
individual becoming an employer and funding advice. Individuals have a choice to manage their own
care and support via a Direct Payment the person can arrange a care agency or employ a personal
assistant. The applicant will also be responsible for reviewing the Direct Payment to ensure the
person is using their Direct payment in line with their care and support needs and is accessing the
appropriate care services.
The role entails a high level of contact with service users both by telephone and email. There may be
occasions where you will be requested to visit the individual at home. This role is hybrid working so a
mixture of working from home there is a requirement to work from the office for training purposes
team meetings and requested office days. The applicant will also be responsible for raising invoices
and recovery of unused Direct Payments funds.
This is a public/customerfacing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
Working Pattern:
The working pattern for this role will be discussed at interview and can be flexible.
What youll need to succeed:
You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as being numerate and
accurate demonstrated by GCSEs grades A C in Maths and English (or equivalent). You should be
able to work on your own and as part of a team understanding your individual contribution towards
team goals. Knowledge of the state Direct Payments is desirable but this is not essential as full
training will be provided to the successful candidate. The most important attribute is a cando
attitude and the desire to learn and enhance new and existing skills you may have.
