Job Description Summary
The School of Health Sciences at Oakland University in Rochester Michigan invites qualified persons with an interdisciplinary passion for health sciences education research and community engagement to apply for a fulltime tenure track Assistant Professor appointment with rank and salary commensurate with experience. The Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Department exploring where life and health interests intersect prepares students through experiential education for careers and graduate study in a variety of health disciplines. Our current Bachelor of Science and our planned graduate degree programs are built upon strong foundational knowledge in the natural (biology chemistry anatomy physiology) and behavioral sciences (psychology sociology anthropology public and community health and healthcare ethics). The ideal candidate shows promise to initiate and maintain a successful program of scholarship that is grounded in theory and focuses upon health behavior change and community/service engagement. Relevant areas of specialization may include health education and behavior health literacy health disparities and translational or intervention research in community and clinical settings and/or with specific clinical populations. The successful candidate will demonstrate foundational teaching strengths in the health sciences and will value use of diverse and collaborative teaching methodologies (e.g. online active learning servicelearning multimodal instruction). Active interest in university service academic and community program refinement and development is desired. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum requirement is the pursuit or attainment of a terminal academic degree (e.g. PhD DSc). Candidates who are ABD and nearing completion will be considered if they can demonstrate evidence of completing degree requirements by August 15 2019.
