The Opportunity

Halifax Water is hiring for the job of Manager Asset Management. This is a regular opportunity in the Engineering and Technology Services Department and has full time hours.

What the Asset Management Team does:

  • Delivers asset management and infrastructure master planning projects
  • Leads investigations to confirm levels of service fill data gaps and determine asset condition
  • Administers key data collection programs that inform work done by other departments
  • Coordinates annual capital budget development
  • Provides regular reporting on Halifax Waters assets (state of good repair and planning for our future services)
  • Supports Halifax Waters response to customers service expectations and growth demands

As a Manager Asset Management you will:

  • Lead the asset management roadmap implementation develop and oversee the implementation of the comprehensive condition assessment program and establish asset life cycle intervention strategies.
  • Create and implement a communications program for the business unit with a focus on engaging internal stakeholders and building an asset management culture throughout the utility.
  • Maintain expert level knowledge of Halifax Waters infrastructure with a core focus on asset management.
  • Support Halifax Waters annual capital planning process and the development of the 1Year capital budget and the 5Year capital plan.

To do this job you need:

  • A postsecondary education in Engineering (civil municipal environmental or equivalent).
  • A Professional Engineer (P.Eng. designation.
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible related engineering experience leading municipal engineering or asset management initiatives working on multidisciplined teams on strategic initiatives including direct supervisory experience or experience directing technical and professional personal.
  • To be willing to obtain an Asset Management training certification such as IAM PEMAC IPWEA.
  • A valid NS drivers license.
