Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
To be eligible for this position applicants are required to have successfully completed the Quest Conversation Program and worked as a First Year TA for a full year. Additionally they must secure a nomination which can come from either at least one faculty member within their cohort or a selfnomination submitted by the student themselves. The Programs Johnson Awardees will be given priority hiring for this position. The annual application cycle for this position commences in March when the call for applications is released. Successful candidates will be notified of their selection in April.
Workload: the minimum expectation from this position is to work 5 hours per week if you can and wish to work more please discuss this with the program director.
Duration: this is a one year commitment. TAs must be available to work in the Fall January and Spring Terms.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Section Assignment: Each TA will be assigned to an Enduring Question section. Faculty teams will collaboratively determine the distribution of fellows across the classes.
2.Introduction and Accessibility: TAs are expected to introduce themselves to their assigned section providing contact information work plans and office hours.
3.Exam Study Sessions: Organize and host study sessions during exam weeks to support student preparation and academic success.
4.Assignment Brainstorming and Planning: Lead brainstorming and planning sessions for course assignments with a specific focus on the exegesis and final synthesis papers.
5.Assignment Assistance: Assist students with various assignments including offering peer reviews of papers and quote notes as required.
6.Weekly Office Hours: Maintain weekly office hours to facilitate discussions related to assigned readings and respond to students inquiries.
7.Feedback Collection: Actively collect feedback from students to evaluate the effectiveness of sessions. Share this feedback with faculty as relevant.
8. Support class related Excursions and Film Showings: Provide assistance as directed by program faculty in coordinating course excursions and film showings to enrich the learning experience of EQ students.
