Thinking outside the box is encouraged and we are always searching for more intelligent ways to improve our efficiencies and the way we work.We are seeking a Compliance Officer for our Bangalore office. This is an excellent opportunity to join Norways first unicorn and to get a deeper understanding of what it takes to work for a cuttingedge legal tech team as a Compliance Officer.
About the team
Cognites Legal team is responsible for providing legal advice to all of the companys business and corporate activities as well as handling the corporate compliance function. We are seeking a Compliance Officer who will report directly to Cognites General Counsel.

Focus Areas
- The role will entail providing legal assistance related to Cognites overall activities with the main focus on:
- Manage the design and monitoring of Business Integrity
- Safeguard that Cognite complies with its outside regulatory and legal requirements as well as internal policies
- Privacy GDPR
- SOC2/ISO 27001 Compliance
Role & Responsibilities
- Working with legal tech tools to automate the legal department
- Provide direction for review and recommend approval of Business Integrity and Compliance plans ensuring alignment between the various teams at Cognite
- Document and report findings from assessments and incidents to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner with plans for improvement and monitoring of corrective actions
- Maintain and communicate the Code of Conduct the AntiCorruption Policy the Third Party Representative Policy GDPR Policy etc.
- Company wide compliance and ethics training
- Obtain and redistribute KPIs within compliance
- Annually review corporate responsibility and ensure compliance with legal requirements and internationally recognized reporting guidelines
- Norwegian Transparency Act Due Diligence and reporting
- Customer partner and vendor background checks and compliance due diligence
- ESG compliance including EUs Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive
- Support the India office and the global legal team with adhoc legal tasks
We believe most of these areas match your experience
- Masters degree in Law
- Minimum 3 years relevant legal experience (inhouse legal department private law firm or relevant authorities) preferably from the technology field
- In depth experience with working with compliance
- Practical and commercial mindset
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to work independently and efficiently often with tight deadlines with understanding of the legal inhouse role
- Positive attitude
- Good negotiation skills
- Fluent in English
Additional experience that is a benefit but not required
- Experience with GDPR SOC2 ISO 27001 and EU data protection and privacy regulations
