Hours: 1:1 Teaching Assistant 29 hours and 10min per week8.40am 12.45pm plus 1.15pm to 3.10pm Monday to Friday 38 weeks per year (term time only excluding TD Days).

All about the role:

Pickwick Academy Trust would like to recruit a parttime 1 :1 Teaching Assistant to support a named child on a 1:1 basis based at Queens Crescent School. The appointment will be fixedterm due to funding for a named child and the contract will end when he/she leaves Queens Crescent School or no longer needs support.

Our School

Queens Crescent School is a twoform entry primary school based in Chippenham with over 400 pupils on roll across 14 classes. In 2014 the school became a single academy trust and subsequently joined Pickwick Academy Trust in 2017 as one of the four founding schools. Queens Crescent is a vibrant school and our energetic caring and positive staff are committed to providing the best primary education for all of our children.

Children learn best when they feel happy and safe so we aim to provide a nurturing environment that allows children to succeed but also feel safe to make mistakes along the way. In such an atmosphere we believe that every child can achieve his or her full potential irrespective of ability or background.

Our curriculum is broad and balanced delivered by means of stimulating learning enquiries that build on prior knowledge and skills preparing each individual for the next phase of their education and life beyond school. We are currently investing significantly in our IT infrastructure and technology to support the delivery of the curriculum enabling our teachers to teach in new and dynamic ways which in turn results in fantastic outcomes for our children.

Role overview

As a Teaching Assistant you must be committed and flexible be able to support groups and individual children with their learning. Being able to work as part of a team is essential as well as being able to use your own initiative. The successful candidates will need excellent communication and liaison skills and will be closely supported by a class teacher and wider team.

Duties will include:

  • Supporting a pupil learning 1:1 work. The exact tasks will depend on the learning support needs of the pupil.
  • Supporting pupils selfesteem inclusion and behavioural development
  • Provide physical/personal care to pupils where required
  • Supporting the Teacher/s
  • Supporting the curriculum Support the delivery of the English and Mathematics curriculum along with other aspects of both the National Curriculum and the enhanced curriculum offered by the school.
  • Support the school e.g. assisting with setting up storing and retrieving and general maintenance of classroom equipment and teaching aids.
