Description of Work

This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Note: Permanent and timelimited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or timelimited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporaries are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.


Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. OSHR supports the Governors Job Ready initiative and seeks to expand a temporarys skill set to enhance their qualifications for State government and private sector jobs. Exposure to an agencys culture process procedures and potential learning opportunities can provide valuable experience to those who may seek permanent employment with the state.

This temporary position is located in Raleigh NC Wake County.


Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).


This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Public Instruction. This position is located at 301 N. Wilmington st. Raleigh NC 27699.


The graduate student intern will support the research team in the following areas:
1. Literature Review and Synthesis:
a. Conduct systematic review of literature promising practices among highperforming schools
teachers and students on associated with select educational outcomes.
b. Summarize and synthesize research findings identifying key themes methodologies and
implications for policy and practice.
c. Develop annotated bibliographies and contribute to literature review sections of project
reports.
2. Qualitative Data Collection:
a. Assist in the development of interview and focus group protocols for data collection with
educators students and school leaders.
b. Conduct interviews and focus groups (virtually or inperson as appropriate) to gather insights
into effective practices in selected schools.
c. Observe instructional practices and school environments to document highimpact teaching
strategies and leadership approaches.
d. Collect and analyze schoollevel documents such as lesson plans strategic plans and
professional development materials.
3. Data Analysis and Reporting:
a. Assist in coding qualitative data using thematic analysis techniques.
b. Identify emerging patterns and themes related to instructional strategies leadership models
and student support systems.
c. Support the preparation of reports policy briefs and presentations summarizing key findings
for stakeholders including policymakers educators and researchers.
4. Stakeholder Engagement and Dissemination:
a. Assist in coordinating meetings focus groups and professional learning communities with
educators and stakeholders
