POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Manager Smart Pump Implementation will oversee the implementation of a new fleet of IV Smart pumps or infusion pumps with a Drug Error Reduction System (DERS) including seamless integration with the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. This role will work in a matrixed reporting environment reporting into the Manager Corporate Project Management and Performance team and working closely with the Directors in Clinical Engineering Nursing Practice Education& CNIO and Pharmacy. The successful candidate will manage project timelines resources stakeholder engagement and system validation to drive project success. A strong understanding of Clinical Engineering principles and best practices is essential to facilitate the integration of medical devices into the hospital infrastructure. This role will be critical in enhancing patient safety improving workflow efficiency and optimizing the medication administration processes including seamless implementation of drug libraries in Pharmacy and work closely with Nursing to provide comprehensive training to users prior to during and after deployment.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in project management excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) strong presentation and networking abilities and proven success in partnership development. This role requires crossfunctional collaboration between Clinical Engineering Nursing Pharmacy IT and external vendors to ensure a smooth deployment compliance with regulatory standards and optimization of patient safety.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Integrate and coordinate all project plans to create consistent coherent documents used to guide both project and project control. Includes planning estimating and scheduling the defined work and ensuring the work is authorized.

  • Lead the endtoend implementation of infusion pumps with DERS. Facilitate collaboration for the integration of the IV pumps into EPIC electronic health record (EHR) system.

  • Identify key stakeholders and establish a multidisciplinary IV project core team. Arrange and facilitate regular meetings for the core team to ensure alignment address challenges and drive project success.

  • Carry out project plans. Coordinate and direct the various technical and organizational interfaces.

  • Manage strong healthy relationships with internal and external stakeholders ensuring that project delivery expectations are clearly defined and met.

  • Coordinate changes across an entire project (i.e. influence the factors that create change to ensure that the change is agreed upon; determine that a change has occurred; and manage the actual change when and as it occurs).

  • Develop a written scope statement as the basis for future project decisions. Subdivide the major project deliverables into smaller more manageable components. Formalize acceptance of the project scope. Control changes to the project scope.

  • Identify the specific activities that must be performed to produce the various project deliverables. Identify and document interactivity dependencies. Estimate the number of work periods that will be needed to complete the individual activities. Analyze activity sequences activity durations and resource requirements to create the project schedule. Control changes to the project schedule.

  • Determine resources (e.g. people equipment materials) and quantities required to perform activities. Develop an estimated approximation of the costs of the project. Allocate the overall cost estimate to individual work activities. Control changes to the project budget.

  • Identify which quality standards are relevant to the project and determine how to satisfy them. Evaluate overall project performance on a regular basis to provide confidence that the project will satisfy the relevant quality standards. Monitor specific project results to determine if they comply with relevant quality standards and identify ways to eliminate causes of unsatisfactory performance.

  • Identify document and assign project roles responsibilities and reporting relationships. Obtain the human resources needed assigned to and working on the project. Develop individual and group competencies to enhance project performance.

  • Determine the information and communications needed by the stakeholders (e.g. who needs what information when they need it and how it will be given to them). Ensure needed information is available to project stakeholders in a timely manner. Collect and disseminate performance information (e.g. status reporting progress measurement and forecasting). Generate gather and disseminate information to formalize a phase or project completion.

  • Decide how to approach and plan the risk management activities for a project. Determine which risks might affect the project and document their characteristics. Perform a qualitative analysis of risks and conditions to prioritize their effects on project objectives. Measure the probability and consequence of risks and estimate their implications for project objectives. Develop procedures and techniques to enhance opportunities and reduce threats to the projects objectives. Monitor residual risks identify new risks execute risk reduction plans and evaluate their effectiveness throughout the project life cycle.

  • Ensure that employees are provided with and use the appropriate training and/or procedures equipment material to perform assigned duties.

  • Ensure that all employees perform work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO Corporate/Departmental policies and procedures. Ensure that appropriate action is recommended for those employees who do not work in compliance with the Act.

  • Coordinate and manage implementation of strategic directions and priorities.

  • Develops and delivers presentations reports proposals briefing notes or other as needed.

  • Supports the development of evaluation frameworks and surveys.

  • Plans stakeholder events and consultations.

  • Works with Administrative Assistant to provide a range of administrative support for meetings.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Biomedical or Clinical Engineering or related field (Essential)

  • Masters Degree in Engineering (Preferred)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification by a recognized organization (Preferred)

  • Minimum of five 5 years of experience in managing general/corporate projects (Essential)

  • Minimum of three 3 years in managing healthcare technology projects (Essential)

  • Experience with infusion pump implementations or Electronic Health Record (EHR) integrations (Preferred)

  • Experience in a health care setting (Essential)

  • Strong knowledge of the EPIC Electronic Health Record System (EHR) and smart pump technology (Essential)

  • Solid understanding of Clinical Engineering principles including medical device lifecycle management regulatory compliance and equipment integration (Essential)

  • Demonstrated experience leading healthcare technology implementation (Essential)

  • Data management including advance use of Office 365 and Sharepoint (Essential)

  • Ability to foster effective communication and collaboration to achieve project objectives (Essential)

La ou le gestionnaire de projet Mise en uvre dune pompe intelligente supervisera la mise en uvre dun nouveau parc de pompes intelligentesIV ou de pompes perfusion avec un logiciel de rduction des erreurs de dose (DERS) y compris lintgration transparente au systme de dossiers de sant lectronique (DSE). La personne titulaire de ce poste travaillera dans un environnement matriciel de production de rapports relevant de la ou du gestionnaire Rendement et gestion de projet dentreprise et travaillera en troite collaboration avec les directeurs et directrices en ingnierie clinique pratique infirmire ducation et CNIO et pharmacie. La personne retenue grera lchancier du projet les ressources la mobilisation des parties prenantes et la validation du systme pour favoriser la russite du projet. Une solide comprhension des principes et des meilleures pratiques dingnierie clinique est essentielle pour faciliter lintgration des dispositifs mdicaux dans linfrastructure de lhpital.
