Job Description
Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country with a population of 240000 residents Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
City Assets and Construction unit focuses on preparing long term asset renewal plans through economical extension of asset lives. The unit also delivers construction works across all asset classes and this includes renewal works and new build.
In contributing to the overarching vision the Project Officer Roads (POR) monitors the Operational Performance and WHS aspect of all capital renewal and maintenance works related to Transport and Stormwater assets.
The successful applicant will require:
- Holds a Construction Overseers certificate or certified training in Road Construction
- Minimum of 7 years field experience in scoping monitoring supervising and providing advice and direction on all aspects of road construction and road maintenance activities including checking quality of delivered asphalt mixes and asphalt laid.
- Experience in stormwater drainage construction and stormwater maintenance
- Experience in the construction of all types of traffic calming facilities including roundabouts
- Experience and technical knowledge of working with survey reduced levels
- Experience in preparing civil work estimates
- Demonstrated commitment to WHS Principles and working knowledge of WHS legislation and relevant sections of the POEO legislation
- Proven computer skills including MS Excel MS Word MS Outlook.
- Able to demonstrate good open communication skills both written and oral.
- Class C driver licence

About this role:
- Permanent fulltime position
- 70 hour fortnight
- Access to Councils 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement
- Located at Councils Auburn Depot with frequent travel required across Council worksites and may be required to work across any of Councils work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 12 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1844.36 to $2121.02 per week plus 11.5 superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated taking into consideration the successful applicants qualifications skills and experience related to the role
- A leaseback vehicle (DualCab ute)
- Mobile phone
What youll need to have for this role:
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Be able to provide information for preemployment checks required for the position including attending a physical preemployment medical examination as required
- Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Councils Health Monitoring Procedure as required
- Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process in accordance with Councils COVID19 Vaccination Procedure.
