Job Description

Key Responsibility and Accountability

Curriculum Delivery

  • The Head Teacher works with the Center Director and in collaboration with the Curriculum/Program Coordinator and other head teachers to implement planned lesson plans to support the holistic development for children aged 2 years to 6 years.
  • Supports the achievement of learning outcomes of all the learners in her care and supervision.
  • Instruct learners in a classroom setting according to the curriculum and learning domains.
  • Perform formative and summative assessments and contribute to the development of assessment strategies and arrangements for the key learning areas.
  • Highlight any developmental delays and adopt inclusive practices to support each and every child in their learning journey in consultation with the PLs/PCs and the CD.
  • Brings in innovative methodologies new insights and practices in lesson plan delivery facilitating improvement in the learning process.
  • Share timely feedback with the PLs/PCs on the curriculum design if changes needed appropriateness and relatability to the learner to ensure that the curriculum is contemporary at all times.
  • Ensure the classroom is wellmaintained visually appealing to the learners and aligned with the theme of the month.
  • Develop a lifelong love and appreciation for learning in early years.
Team Work
  • Work collaboratively with all stakeholders in the development and enhancement of curriculum pedagogy teaching and overall service delivery.
  • Work closely with the curriculum coordinator and center team for events curriculum planning and other curriculum activities.
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Preschool Principal Head of School or center.
  • Mentor fellow teachers (if assigned as a Buddy) for the newly joined facilitators.
  • Collaborate and work with the caregiving staff to contribute to the learning process of all learners.
  • Demonstrate creativity initiative collaboration and resourcefulness in supporting the teams and CD in achieving overall center goals.
  • Communicate timely with the manager on matters requiring immediate attention.
  • Work effectively as both a team member and independently.
Health & Safety
  • Establish and ensure a positive and safe physical and emotional climate in the classroom and at the center.
  • Ensure child development safety and wellness by adhering to all policies procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain an environment that is conducive to the overall development of learners.
Parent Connect
  • Work in partnership with parents to enhance the learners potential.
  • Interact with parents to discuss a childs progress during PTCs and as needed.
  • Share learning samples weekly monthly quarterly and annually as planned.
  • Handle ongoing parent communication regarding learning and child care.
  • Address escalations with the CD regarding incidents in the class.
Professional & Personal Development
  • Participate in skill enhancement workshops and training in line with global practices.
  • Stay updated with current pedagogy and innovation practices.
  • Remain informed about syllabus changes NEP requirements and grade 1 admission standards.
Classroom Code of Conduct
  • Respect the rights and dignity of every team member.
  • Maintain professionalism in all conversations and interactions.
  • Address concerns or conflicts promptly and constructively.
  • Balance creating enjoyable moments while maintaining professional decorum.

Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Knowledge of current best practices in pedagogy and innovation with successful teaching experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students parents and colleagues.
  • Relevant university credentials and a secondary teaching certification are preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and differentiating instruction.
Additional Skills:
Basic computer skills including MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint).
