Job Description

Were on the hunt for the kind of person who is meticulous and detail oriented all while enjoying working in the outdoors. This role will have you assessing areas for all sorts of different situations ranging from disaster related environmental issues landslides and many others depending on the needs of the client.


Our client one of the leading Geotechnical and hazard assessment consulting firms in the province has tasked us with finding their next professional Geoscientist. They offer a dynamic environment with multiple projects every year that would always keep the work interesting and diverse. The successful candidate will enjoy working with a team and independently while they perform assessments and compile the recommendations and reports that go along with them.


This is a permanent fulltime role with a typical MonFri work week that may include weekends from time to time (project and travel dependent).


The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Geoscience projects from proposal to fieldwork and undertake all analysis and reporting.


The role:

  • Field mapping
  • Test pitting and stratigraphic trenching
  • Dendrochronology
  • Slope hazard identification and monitoring
  • River/stream inspection
  • Landslide assessments
  • Emergency landslide responses
  • Periodic construction field review
  • Reporting and interpretation of field data
  • Geoscience analysis including material and site characterization
  • Natural hazards risk management
  • Interpretation of instrumentation data and contribution to designs



Your Skills & Experience:

  • Terrain stability and mapping;
  • Soil and rock mechanics;
  • Slope stability and stabilization;
  • An understanding of groundwater flow and surface hydrology;
  • A knowledge of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) and change detection analysis.
  • A knowledge of Geographical Information System (GIS) and database management


Ideally previous slope stability (both soil and rock) modeling would be an asset but not necessary to be successful in your candidacy.
