General Description

The position for Forklift Driver is responsible for ensuring the proficient and safe use of the forklift in lifting moving and packing of merchandise. The Forklift Driver must be a safety conscious individual and should adhere to all safety regulations and procedures established by the company.

Position Outline

  • Move merchandise from one place to another using the forklift (Load unload move and pack materials).
  • Inspect products to be moved for accuracy and safely move them to warehouse.
  • Load and offload materials onto and off pallets skids and vehicles.
  • Place the forklift and other lifting tools over under or around loaded boxes pallets or skids.
  • Ensure that materials loaded to be transported are secure.
  • Ensure that products are safely moved to designated areas.
  • Weigh merchandise and record weight or other production data on labels or tags.
  • Observe and comply with quality environment health and safety procedures.
  • Personally check all quality descriptions of the merchandize to be moved.
  • Ensure that the products are properly stacked.
  • Perform quality check on all inbound merchandise.
  • Carry out regular check and maintenance on the forklift and other control equipment.
  • Recognize and report mechanical and electrical flaws to the warehouse manager.
  • Move item from the stockroom to different units inside the organization either utilizing the forklift or by hand.
  • Pack and move different things other than products as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Move wastes and other items using the forklift.
  • May be required to drive trucks and other movable machines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid forklifting certificate.
  • Excellent handeye coordination.
  • Proficiency in operating technical machinery and RF scanners.
  • Good physical condition.
  • Mathematical aptitude.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and/or pull push 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Ability to stand sit or operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Stamina to stand kneel bend stoop crouch and climb ladders as needed.
  • Must be able to have color determination (for safety indicators and signals).
  • Steel toe shoes must be worn at all times while onsite.
  • Must be able to climb onto and off of equipment unassisted.
  • Good handeye coordination and depth perception to safely operate forklift and maneuver in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions including hot cold dusty or noisy environments.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate controls steering and levers accurately.
  • Must have good peripheral vision and be able to maintain situational awareness while operating equipment.
  • Ability to respond quickly to signals alarms or changing work conditions.
