Job Description

Job Title: Hoover Auditorium Front of House Coordinator

Department: Programming

Reports To: Director of Performing Arts & Entertainment

Start Date: MidMay 2025

Compensation:$15 per hour

Position Summary: Hoover Auditorium in Lakeside Chautauqua is home to a busy summer arts series which presents 56 events per week between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Programs include a wide variety of shows including rock bands symphony concerts family variety acts (magicians jugglers) lectures worship events and more. The Hoover Auditorium front of House Coordinator is responsible for managing the team of Hoover ushers and providing support and excellent customer service to the attendees and staff at Hoover shows. Must be available from May August and ideally through Labor Day weekend.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the team of Hoover ushers for the full Chautauqua season and possible shoulder season events
  • Create and communicate the usher team weekly and season schedules to all involved
  • Act as the front of house face at Hoover shows by managing the usher team greeting and supporting concertgoers and immediate problemsolving of any issues that arise
  • Take accurate attendance at Hoover shows and report them to Programming
  • Assist in pre and postseason prep for the auditorium; identify areas of attention for crew or maintenance
  • Keep a running log of facilities issues; identify priority; communicate needs to maintenance according to urgency
  • Communicate with the VP of Programming Director of Performing Arts Programming Manager and Hoover Tech Director to ensure the right processes are in place for a positive welcoming atmosphere at all Hoover shows and events
  • Communicate with all necessary Programming Hoover and Safety Services staff to plan ahead for queue lines artist meet and greets lobby and gallery events or other special events during the season
  • Provide a safe atmosphere for all guests and employees of Hoover Auditorium; ensure that the usher team is aware of all safety protocols
  • Ensure customer service and satisfaction are of highest priority with all artists staff and guests
  • Ensure that the front of house is clean and presentable during events
  • Communicate with all parties in an efficient and effective manner
  • Exhibit a teamwork attitude strong work ethic and professionalism in all aspects of position
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

Experience in theatre or concert hall shows preferred.
