The Actuarial Data Management team is looking for a skilled data and technology professional to help us deliver innovative data solutions. This role provides the opportunity to utilize your deep technical skills and business partnership skills on a daily basis. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our business partners to architect design and deliver information utilizing standard tools and technologies including Google Cloud platform and Microsoft Power BI.The ideal candidate will be technically strong with SQL proficiency and demonstrated experience creating formulas models and visuals in Power BI. This candidate will have experience building and/or supporting data pipelines and will enhance our capabilities to deliver data and technology in support of our data goals.
In this position you will enjoy a hybrid work schedule that typically consists of 1 day per week in our CNA Chicago office with the option to work the remainder of your week remotely.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leaders and business partners to understand analytical requirements identify appropriate data sources and deliver information that supports the expected outcomes.
- Support and enhance data processes by building out controls validating and adding capability to common datasets while ensuring reliability and data integrity.
- Use SQL and DAX to build semantic models and dashboards in Power BI that support actuaries across many lines of business.
- Evaluate existing actuarial tools and processes and collaborate with our technology partners to define future state solutions that meet our requirements and eliminate support issues.
- Work closely with data management director information technology and ADMO teams to inform proper practices as you work through SQL builds dashboards and other projects. This will ensure solutions conform to companywide strategy and approach.
- Serve in a production support capacity by diagnosing and fixing issues across dashboards datasets and exhibits as they occur.
- Provide and push dashboard/dataset updates to Google BigQuery and Power BI online promptly ensuring communication with stakeholders throughout the process.
- Independently identify and investigate issues related to projects. Recommend alternatives which include system identification remediation of issues and documentation of analysis and resolution.
- Create and develop presentations design documentation/diagrams and job aids as part of projects.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities
- Strong data architecture design and coding skills with handson experience designing and developing with SQL. Experience in R Python and/or related programming languages is a plus.
- Substantive experience in one or more common visualization tools such as Power BI Tableau or Qlik required. Experience in Power BI strongly preferred. Intermediate to advanced DAXwriting ability also preferred.
- Knowledge of cloudbased data applications (Google Cloud Platform AWS Azure etc. preferred but not required in lieu of strong onpremise data experience (i.e. Oracle database TSQL database).
- Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact and build trusted relationships across different departments and all levels of management.
- Strong technical and problem solving skills with the ability to resolve complex situations and issues in an efficient and timely manner.
- Detailoriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to independently manage or lead multiple projects.
- Understanding of the insurance industry its products practices and operations is preferred but not required. Knowledge of common actuarial data needs is a plus.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Technology Finance Statistics or related field
- Typically a minimum of 35 years of related work experience

In Illinois the average base pay range for a Senior Data Management Analyst is $88000 to $110000. Salary determinations are based on various factors including but not limited to relevant work experience skills certifications and location.
In certain jurisdictions CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia California Colorado Connecticut Illinois Maryland Massachusetts New York and Washington the national base pay range for this job level is $54000 to $103000 annually.Salary determinations are based on various factors including but not limited to relevant work experience skills certifications and location.
