Introduction

Maryland Public Television (MPT) is currently seeking a Chief Operating Officer to play a pivotal role at Marylands only statewide broadcaster. This position is both dynamic and demanding requiring a blend of creativity organizational expertise and leadership skills. The incumbent will manage daytoday operations of the television station guaranteeing that programs meet the expectations of the 1.4 million monthly viewers and students across the State. MPT seeks a person who flourishes in a fastpaced environment and who has a passion for public media.

Main Purpose of Job

Working under the supervision of the President & CEO you will be at the helm of dailyoperations guiding the station to programming production distribution and educational service success. Your primary duties will involve oversight of all aspects of television broadcast fromcontent creation and scheduling to financial management and funding. Further youll have oversite of multiple divisions and regulatory compliance. This multifaceted role requires a keeneye for detail excellent organizational skills and the ability to lead a talented team ofprofessionals in pursuit of delivering topnotch local/national television programming education services and local state agency advertising campaigns. The incumbent renderssenior executivelevel decisions not otherwise the purview of the CEO.

POSITION DUTIES

Oversee major operational and administrative functions of Content Maryland Center for Media Literacy & Education Production Services & Facilities and the Maryland State Ad Agency divisions
Oversee the performance of the national sales team
Negotiate contracts with content providers and underwriters
Develop and implement stationwide operational policies and procedures
Hire train and supervise staff members
Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders
Analyze and interpret market trends for strategic planning; oversee MPTs strategic planning process
Act as a liaison between MPT and national public media organizations
Support the CEO in interactions with elected officials other agency heads and regulatory bodies
Ensure compliance with broadcasting regulations
Oversee the development and of marketing and branding strategies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree in broadcasting communications media or related field
10 years of management experience at a media operation 5 of which were at a senior level
3 years of direct supervisory experience
